EXPECT ANTICIPATE REPEAT

The Lord who rescued me from the claws of the lion and the bear will rescue me... (1 Samuel 17:37)

Just as David knew God was His deliverer, we can be sure that Jesus is our deliverer and the source of all of our needs. Just as David expected God to defeat Goliath and anticipated his victory, we can always expect the Lord to be there to make us more than conquerors and anticipate the victories in advance. By faith, we can expect, anticipate, repeat.

We serve a risen Savior! Jesus expected, and anticipated God’s faithfulness to fulfill His every promise. That is why He could say that His resurrection was guaranteed. Our eternal life was guaranteed by that same power of His resurrection. And the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead is powerfully at work in our lives and in our world. He is especially working in our nation to restore our light.

Acts 17:27 tells us that His purpose was for the nations to seek after God and perhaps feel their way toward Him and find Him, though He is not far from any one of us.

As I prayed and praised the Lord for His great sacrifice, the thought came to me that, I cannot imagine what He experienced, but I can receive it! I cannot pay what I owe, but I can share. I must share what Jesus has done for me and for everyone. He paid the price for all, even for those who refuse to call.

I can’t pay but must pray. Just as the people in the crowd were deceived and led to cheer for His crucifixion, our nation is filled with deceived people rejecting and mocking God. We need to get louder in our praise and trust for the goodness of God.

He is alive. Jesus is alive. The curse of sin is broken. In Christ we are stronger than the power of the devil. We can no longer just silently shake our heads at the detestable things that are destroying the people and everything Jesus stands for. If Jesus has done something for us, we must share it. We must expect Him to accompany His words and confirm them. We must live anticipating the flood of His power and then repeat, compounding the return on His investment in us.

I love what David said about his victories over the lion and bear. He said he went after them with a club and if they turned on him, he grabbed them by the jaw and clubbed them to death. That is what Jesus did to the devil for us. We can expect Him to do through us as well.

This is a great day to celebrate what Jesus did for us. Let’s not forget to celebrate what He is continuing to do. The lions and the bears are the things that kept us from God until we broke through to our salvation. They are the same things that keep us from victory when we forget that God is still there to deliver us. We are celebrating the power of God to raise the dead.

Let’s stir up that power in us and resolve in our hearts that the same power that raised Christ from the dead is working in us and we are expecting our great God to do great things. We rejoice in anticipation of His rule over all nations. Repeat with me. Jesus is risen! He is Lord! He is able!
