FAITH LOOPS

Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. (1 Corinthians 16:13 NLT)

I recently heard in my spirit the word, loops. As I thought about that, I saw that there are in fact loops of faith. Scripture speaks of faith, fear, glory, praise, honor, and etc. If we look at our relationship with God, we can see where we may fluctuate between, faith and fear.
At times we go from faith to faith and other times we go from fear to fear. Of course we like faith better. We like glory better. We like the good things best. Well, we truly can stay in the good place. God is always good. We simply need to avoid the loops that take us in the wrong direction.
Have you ever taken a wrong exit on an expressway? Some of them are such a maze that finding the way back is extremely frustrating. We were once in a construction area and thought we followed the exit instructions perfectly, only to discover that we got in a loop and kept making the same mistake, until I had to give up and find a different way.
Fear and doubt can quickly take us for a loop. Fear leads to more fear. Doubt leads to more doubt and then into fear. At this point we begin to question our faith and even God. We may even wonder if we even have faith. These loops lead us to a point of just wanting to pull over and quit.
What do we do? Well, this scripture gives us perfect advice. Be on guard! We need to realize when we have taken a wrong turn. We need to be sensitive and recognize when we move into doubt or fear. We need to see when we find ourselves questioning God.
Let me be clear, there is no problem with asking God questions as long as we will listen to His answers. The issue is with questioning God. We may have moments of doubt, but we should not allow ourselves to go to the place of accusing God. He does not make mistakes. He is faithful even when we are not. Any thinking outside of that is a loop we do not want to follow.
If we are on guard, we then know to stand firm. If we fail to recognize when we are headed in a wrong direction we have no reason to resist or stand. Adam and Eve noticed they were naked and afraid, and still they felt comfortable using the blame game. They were escorted out of the garden before they realized just how far they had strayed.
Scripture also tells us about the danger of continually learning and never understanding. I often see people thinking that there must be something wrong with their faith if things do not go the way they want them to go. However, our faith is not sustained or based on how God responds but rather by our believing God and His faithfulness and love for us. This will always loop us back to our foundation and that is where we are immovable. We are courageous and strong.
