FAITHFUL

God will do this, for he is faithful to do what he says, and he has invited you into partnership with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. (1 Corinthians 1:9 NLT)

Faithful; this is the word I heard as I headed to bed. We know that the bible tells us that God is faithful. Ultimately my personal question became, “Do I live like God is faithful?”
Jesus said that if we had even a little faith, we could move a mountain. We need to remember that the faith is not to be in our personal faith but rather in God. My faith may go up and down, but God does not change. We know that scripture tells us that God is faithful even when we are not, so our confidence must first be in how faithful God is.
It is amazing how often people with little or no knowledge of God, trust in His faithfulness to take everyone to heaven even though we know that only those who are born again will be there. Well if we are going trust God for our eternity we should most certainly be able to trust Him for our daily lives and livelihood.
Hebrews tells us that faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. This is the faith that we have been given as we enter into our partnership with Jesus. We do not want Him to be a silent partner and He does not want us to be a silent partner. Our partnership is intended to be an active one. It is good to talk faith. It is even better to walk faith. I say this while keeping in mind that it is not my faith, but rather faith in God’s faithfulness.
If we depend or focus on our own faithfulness it will be high and low and everywhere in between, but God is always faithful, so that is what we should hook on to.
I recently had a motorcycle ride that may illustrate this. After riding over a thousand miles in the Black Hills of South Dakota with my son, it was time to hook on to the trailer and head home. I rolled down I 90 at 75 to 80 miles per hour, then turned north and rolled 70 to my favorite Motorcycle shop because I did not like the way my tires looked. At the time I was seeing a problem with the front tire only to discover that my back tire was down to the cords in places. Since he did not have tires on hand and I needed to get home I rolled carefully toward home thanking God for protection, prepared to have a flat at any moment. I was speaking faith, but not nearly as carefree and the first 200 miles of the trip. Then God said, “Do you think I am going stop protecting you now.” Needless to say I felt better. He reminded me that He is faithful. My goal is to live like I know how faithful God is.
On the way to get new tires I was singing and praising and telling God how good He is. Oh how I love Him. He is faithful! Amen.
