FILLED COMPLETELY

Oh, how kind and gracious the Lord was! He filled completely with faith and the love of Christ Jesus. (1 Timothy 1:14 NLT)

Well, we established recently that nothing is too hard for God, here we have the icing on the cake which assures us that He is in us doing way more than we have ever hoped or imagined. Why do I say that? Because we know that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. We also know that God is no respecter of persons. In other words, He does not play favorites. What He promises or does for one, He promises and does for everyone. In this Scripture Paul declares that God filled him completely with faith and the love of Christ. So guess what? God has done the same for you. This is all part of that great salvation that God says we are to work out. You are completely filled.

In other words, it is in us ready to come out. It is not something that we try to get in us. It is in us. We cannot say that God gave someone else more than He gave us. We cannot say that it is easier for one than another. If we see someone walking in way that we wish we were, then we need to declare that we can do that because God put the same thing in us.

I know that every bit of our fiber says that it just is not that easy. In declaring that, we make it more difficult. You know that children’s story about the little train that could. Well, we need to realize that we can. In fact the Bible says that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.

It is a matter of putting the truth of God’s word to work in our lives. Paul was so confident of what God put in him, that he would even lay hands on people and expect them to receive the same thing. Remember, He told Timothy to stir up that gift that was given to him when Paul laid hands on him.

I am a firm believer in the laying on of hands. I have to tell you that the hands I most enjoy are the hands that Jesus places on us when we come to Him. He is so kind and gracious, just like Paul said. There is just no limit to what He desires to do in our lives and through our lives.

There is a world out there longing to see God walking around. They are longing to see the love and compassion, the joy and the confidence that only God can give. And when they see it they are going to want it.

So have confidence that God has put way more in you that you have ever worked out. It does not matter where you are in your walk with Him; there is more that God is ready to do. Jesus anticipated it when He told us we would do greater things.

Jesus was looking forward to those great things because they bring glory to His Father. So who are we to keep God from getting glory? Let that river flow.
