FOLLOW THE PATTERN
"See that you make all things according to the pattern shown you..."(Hebrews 8:5 NKJ)
Jesus came to earth with a purpose, lived with a purpose, died with a purpose and is coming back again! All of this was done according to the plan or pattern that God determined from the very beginning. Since the Lord is the same yesterday, today, and forever, we can find the pattern throughout His word. Anyone who has read the Bible has read the scriptures that speak of God’s plans and patterns. He is always very specific and leaves no detail unsettled.
A new understanding of this began to take root in my heart, as I started to read the gospel of Luke again. For days, the thought that Jesus left the tomb headed for your heart, had been running through my mind, so I wanted to look again at what Jesus did after His resurrection. It seems that every few days, He would just show up to let them know it was true that He was alive. After a few appearances, they watched Him go up in the clouds and that was the beginning of the rest of the story.
After this, I flipped back to the beginning of Luke, and there is the Angel telling Zacharias about his coming son. We should learn from Zacharias not to doubt God. Then we have the Angel talking with Mary and telling her that the Holy Spirit was going to conceive a child. And the Angel adds, For with God nothing shall be impossible.
There is a pattern that God established, and we will do well to just follow it rather than try and dissect it. We will do well to search for His working in our lives, for He is working, rather than declaring that He has broken the pattern. Get one thing straight, GOD DOES NOT CHANGE, MOVE, OR FORGET…HE KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING!!
In everyone of our lives, there have been Angels who have moved about us. Just as the Spirit moved over the earth in the beginning, the Holy Spirit has moved in each of our lives. We are born again by the same Spirit that that conceived Christ in a virgin. We are filled by the same Spirit that descended upon Jesus. This is not our doing, it is God.
So many times, people get trapped in the pattern that the world is laying out, and we forget that God has a pattern. He has plan, and it is a good one. In Exodus chapter 34:10, God said: “Behold, I make a covenant. Before all your people I will do marvels such as have not been done in all the earth, nor in any nation; and all the people among whom you are shall see the work of the Lord. For it is an awesome thing that I will do with you.
So you see, there is a pattern that God made, and He has not deviated from it even for a moment. God said that He is going to do marvelous things and He is still doing them. Be prepared for God to do new things. Get in His pattern, rather than in some rut that was never intended for God’s children. When things seem impossible, expect God to do the impossible.
Remember, when the disciples thought all was lost, God did the impossible and raised Jesus from the dead…when they wondered what to do next the Holy Spirit came…when they ministered signs followed…Get in the pattern.
