FOUND WITH FAITH

I tell you, he will grant justice to them quickly! But when the Son of Man returns, how many will he find on the earth who have faith? (Luke 18:8 NLT)

No matter how often I read or hear this verse it always prompts the same response in my heart. “Lord I want to be found faithful!” Faithfulness is not just believing that Jesus lives; it is acting like He does as well.

Notice that He is not going to be looking for perfection; He will be looking for faith. We have already been made perfect in His sight. Faith keeps us working out our own salvation.

Our lives are a process of working us out and working Christ in. Two Thousand years ago Paul wrote that we show by lives that we have faith and that we should remember the Lord is coming soon.

Every generation has seen lots of reasons that the Lord most certainly must be coming soon. Every generation has agreed with John and said come quickly Lord Jesus. We all have times when we just wish the Lord would get it over with. At the same time we sort of want a little more time.

Faith causes us to want more time for the people who do not know Him. Faith believes that the Lord is able to do something about everything. Faith believes that God knows what He is doing and that He will do what He says for us while He patiently seems to allow a lot of nonsense to go on in the world.

I remember well when I was full of nonsense. I am glad that I can claim ignorance like Paul did for all those ignorant times.

Now, I have no excuse! I am no longer ignorant! Now I guess I am negligent. I am guilty of distracted living. I say to myself fix this or fix that and it is like fixing a leaking faucet; somehow you have to tighten it again and again! Thankfully, God has given us His word to guide us on. He reminds me not to grow weary of well doing. Don’t give up on fixing it. Keep pressing. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.

There it is; faith believes when He says. Faith keeps seeking. Faith keeps praising. Faith does not give up. Faith believes in Gods’ ability to transform above our ability to perform. This sets us free from making ourselves good enough and allows us to focus on how good God is. This does mean that we don’t care that we are weak; it means that we rely on the Lord’s strength and rejoice in it.

Faith knows God is with us and for us and working in us to accomplish what He desires.
