GALLOPING GRACE

And God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished abundance for every good work and charitable donation]. (ll Corinthians 9:8 TAB)

The first time I got on an elevator and found that the floor I wanted to go to did not exist I was a bit taken back. I was relieved to find that the floor actually existed; the problem was that the elevator I was on did not go there! I have also been on elevators that only allowed certain people to go to certain floors. You could push the button all you wanted, but without the pass to that floor you could not get there. In these situations a person has two choices; either you ask someone who knows, or you give up and go on your way.

In the Kingdom of God, I have found that in order to get to the next place or level, one must first believe that the level exists and that it exists for me. In other words, we must believe that all scripture is given by God and that it is good for all of us.

When I am on an elevator that will go where I cannot go and I have no need to go there nor have I been invited there, I don’t worry about it. However, when someone has told me that I am to go to that place for one reason or another, I will do whatever I must in order to get there because I am supposed to be there. If the elevator I am on will not go where I am entitled to go, then I will find one that does. If I still cannot get where I need to go, I will find someone who can get me there.

I have to ask myself if I am as determined when it comes to the promises of God. Do I really believe that grace is literally galloping after me? Do you believe that? This scripture says that God is able to make all grace abound to you. In other words, your elevator goes to every floor and ultimately right out the top of the building if necessary.

Far too often, we stop short of the promises of God because we think the cost may be too great. We see God speak of sowing bountifully and we gulp so hard we do not see that the reaping is going to be greater. That is like not seeing your number on the elevator and just giving up and leaving the building even though you have a key to your room.

Jesus has provided us the keys to the Kingdom. We should not give up until we have entered every open door. But again, we first must believe that those doors are open to us. We need to begin to imagine the blessings of God running after us ready to overtake us. We need to be as determined to get into that flow as we are to get into a room that we know is ours.

Have you ever been to a motel and your key card quit working? Did you pack up and leave or go and get it fixed? Never give up on the Word of God. It always works. Pray and find the way. Find someone who knows the way and get there help. Don’t just stand in the same place and hope the elevator will open to your floor. Follow the way Jesus has provided. Remember that all of God’s word is for all of God’s people. His grace is galloping and ready to over take you. Can you believe it?
