GET INVOLVED AND STAY INVOLVED
Now the Spirit expressly says that in the latter times some will depart from the faith. (1Tim.4:1)
Every relationship requires involvement. This is a true statement for every circumstance. For a business to be successful a person must stay involved. To do well at your job you need to get involved and stay involved. If a person becomes involved in a project, in order to finish it they must stay involved. How many things have you started to do in your life and then did not finish them? Have you ever started to take the garbage out and got distracted and left the bag sitting somewhere? Have you ever told someone you would do something and forgot to do it? If none of these illustrations are familiar to you, you may not need this reminder, or you may just have other areas that you can relate it to.
We started this speaking of relationships and it is obvious that for a friendship to thrive both parties must be involved. Raising children requires involvement; sometimes whether both parties like it or not! And of course, marriage requires that we stay involved with each other. Every relationship, job, or business has other things that can distract us; that is why we must commit to staying involved.
The most important relationship that we can enter is our relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Once we enter that relationship, we must get involved and stay involved in it, because it is key to every other part of our lives. Paul wrote to Timothy warning him that the Spirit has expressly told us that in latter times some will depart from the faith. To me this says that they will cease to be involved.
Would you allow me the latitude to use this for current revelation, even though it is usually used to speak about later down the road? You see the truth is, that we all depart from the faith on a regular basis. Just as we forget to be involved in personal relationships, we also tend to back away from our most important personal relationship. When we stop being involved we back out the door.
Allow me to quickly show you what I mean before you stop reading because you know you would never depart from the faith. Every part of our relationship with the Lord requires that we stay involved. If we are in need of healing, then we need to stay involved to the very end. If we are praying for someone to be saved, we need to stay involved till the very end. If we have a financial need, we must stay involved to the very end. Have you ever given up on a prayer? Have you ever grown weary of well doing? Have you ever forgiven anyone for the last time?
You see, the Spirit warns us that it can be hard when things string out for a long time, and if we don’t hold fast until the end we will depart from the faith before the answer comes. So remember to get involved and stay involved. Marriages end when people cease to stay involved. We are called the bride of Christ. He is involved with us. He is committed to us. Stay involved and you will behold the fullness of your salvation.
