GO FIND IT

For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. (Luke 11:10 NLT)

Have you ever been told, “It is for me to know and you to find out?” The idea then is to find out. The challenge to find something out is what sends people on treasure hunts or researching to figure something out. This is how the word of God is supposed to affect us. We are challenged to go find what is ours. Unfortunately, this is the very thing that we often fail to do.
From the beginning God has told us that when we seek Him with all our heart we will find Him. Still, from the beginning people have seemed to give up on seeking God or the things of God. The enemy seems to win too often.
When Jesus spoke of the cup of a new and better covenant, it struck me recently that in so many words He was telling us to go and find what was in this covenant for us. Every circumstance in life offers us the opportunity to go to His cup and find the best part. We truly need to set our hearts to find best things.
This is true in the simplest as well as the most complex circumstances. If we are angry, there is obviously peace in the cup, but we must go find it. I have searched for things for hours in my garage that were probably not worth searching for, but I knew they were there somewhere. So why shouldn’t I put the effort in finding the things that Jesus provided for me.
When the Word of God says that the secret things belong to God that does not mean that we are supposed just leave everything hidden. We are challenged to go and find what God has promised. Strangely it seems that some get caught up finding the things that Jesus specifically said only God knows and leave out the things that are important to us now.
We are told that all things have been given to us; so why don’t we go find them. We get deceived into thinking that if God wants to have it he will put it under our pillow. We may find it under our pillow if we have been seeking Him in the night. If we seek we find. If we do not care enough to look what can we expect.
I can remember when my children would tell me they could not find something and I would tell them to keep looking. Often times, they really were not looking at all and we would find what they were looking for in plain sight. We all have overlooked things. We all are guilty of not even bothering to look. May God stir our hearts with a determination to find all that He as promised.
Don’t give up. Don’t give in. Just start to praise the Lord again. What you are looking for is truly there for you. God find it.
