GO...GIVE
"Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature."(Mark 16:15 NKJ) Freely you have received, freely give." (Matthew 10:8 NKJ)
According to the Word of God, there is a multitude of people who are in the valley of the decision. Jesus word to us was to go into the entire world and preach the Gospel. He also told us that we would freely receive and we should freely give. Of course when He spoke to the disciples He told them to give what they had already received and the implication was that if they kept on giving they would most certainly keep on receiving. That is why I believe the Lord tells me that I am receiving for a purpose. As long as I am focused on His purpose, He will take care of everything else. I have seen Him do just that time and time again. I have also experienced the times when I was distracted and focused on something that I really could not take care of, but as long as I was determined to handle it myself, He let me! Of course while this was going on, the other things were on hold. What I want to do is keep the river of God flowing in my life. I want to quit building dams that cause one side to go stagnant and the other to dry up.
I recently read a booklet called, “Faith Works by love.” The convicted me that I need to love more. As I prayed about that the scriptures we are looking at today were brought to my mind. It seems that the Holy Spirit has a real desire to go and to give. Since He is in us, we also have that desire. The problem is we often do not know where to go or what we can give. We think we can’t go to some foreign country or another, so we must not be one who is supposed to go. We think we do not have any extra money so we cannot give. But the truth is we go somewhere every single day. And if we never leave the house, we can go around the world with our prayers if we want to.
What we need to do is give in to that desire the Holy Spirit places in us to do something. When we give in to that, we will ask God to please show us what we can do. We will begin to do what we can. When we do what we can, we find we can do more. When we once start praying for the lost, we will find that they are more and more on our hearts. We begin to get confidence in the fact that when we pray for a spot in the world we know the Lord hears us. In fact we realize that He is the one that put that place or that person on our hearts. We also begin to realize that we have a lot more to give than we ever realized. When this happens the gate opens and we have more and more to give. Yes, that includes money, but it is not just money. It includes time, joy, love, peace, help, and a long list of things that the Holy Spirit will show us.
It all starts when we accept the fact that Jesus is talking to each of us and telling us we can do something. The desire to do it activates the gifts God has given us that will enable us to accomplish far more that we ever thought. If we will yield ourselves to His guidance I am confident that we will be amazed and humbled at all that God is prepared to do. When you do this, don’t get bogged down feeling guilty that you did not start sooner. Now is the time. Like Jesus said, “Today if you hear His voice.” This is a new day, a fresh opportunity. Do you hear the call? Will you give in to that desire?
