GO PREACH
"Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone, everywhere. (Mark 16:15 NLT)
Just imagine yourself sitting with friends when Jesus walks into the room. Don’t forget that He comes in through the door without opening it. He looks at you and rebukes you for your unbelief. There is something about the way He says it and the way He looks that breaks your heart. You don’t feel condemned, you feel convicted in deepest part of your being. Then He reminds you that you are supposed to go and preach the good news everywhere to everyone. Now what do you do?
Do you think those folks were inspired when Jesus walked into that room? He told them He was going to die and rise again. Mary and others had seen Him and reported that he was waiting for them. Still they sat in unbelief. The truth is, we can’t preach what we don’t believe. So the question is what do we believe. Or better yet what are we willing to believe. Are we hungry for the truth of God’s word? Are we willing to go with the Good News if the Lord is willing to prove it to us? Do we have any limits?
I know that some will say that would be like seeking a sign and we know what Jesus said about the generation that needed a sign in order to belief. We should also know that He was talking about hard-hearted people who would not believe no matter what He did. They would have been more likely to use His sign as a testimony against Him that as proof of who He was. Remember, God is the one that challenged us to prove His word.
So where does your belief end? What is it that you doubt that keeps you from being a billboard of the good news? It is true that if have an area of unbelief, then we have an area where we can be tripped. Those are areas that we walk away from or even worse we fight against them. Every Word of God is true, so we must go with all of it. Jesus said, “go.” He said if we would go that signs would follow. Do we have confidence in what He said? Do we expect Him to prove His word? The disciples didn’t and that is why He rebuked their unbelief. Later the Holy Spirit came and revealed all that Jesus had told them and at the same time revealed just how unbelieving they were. That is what the Holy Spirit does.
Our call is to go and tell the world the Good News, the Holy Spirit convicts, converts, and confirms. Jesus is alive and well and He is coming back one day. We cannot sit around in unbelief and ignore the truth. No matter where we are sitting, there is someone who either does not know the truth, someone who is weakened by doubt and needs encouragement, or someone who is hungry and waiting to be empowered by someone who knows the truth. If nothing else, we are to encourage one another. Someone will get inspired!
I do not know where you heart is, but I do know that God has a plan and you are part of it. So go! Go get what you need to go, or go with what you have and give it away and God will give you more. Just don’t sit in unbelief. Jesus is coming.
