GOD
That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ. (1John 1:3NKJ)
I read an article stating that 86% of Americans believe in God and want “In God we trust” to be left on our money. There is no doubt that God has blessed us in this country. As I was talking with God about the large percentage that acknowledge His existence, I asked why we are so quiet about it. Why are 14% of the people who are against God managing to have more say than a large majority. God’s answer was, “Because they don’t know Me.”
Think about that. Did you know that you could know God before you came to know Him? After you did come to know Him, didn’t you wish you knew long ago what you know now? And didn’t you wonder how you managed to miss knowing Him for so long? Well, now that you do know Him, what will you do? What have you been doing?
Perhaps you are reading this and you don’t know God, or you wonder if you really do know Him. If you don’t find yourself longing for Him and looking to Him often, there is no doubt you need to know Him more. The good news is that He promised if we would seek Him we would find Him. Pray that God would send people your way who know Him who will help.
Twenty years ago God gave me a song that said, “I see so many people claim me, but they never really know me…they profess how much they love me, but never do they show me. It’s sad to think they don’t know who I am, if they’d read my word, then they’d understand…I Am the I Am.” This all makes perfect sense when we know God, but it is like a foreign language if we don’t know Him. John knew this and that is why the Holy Spirit prompted Him to write and explain why they were declaring this to the people. God wants to fellowship with us. That is why He sent Jesus Christ to reveal His love and compassion and desire to be with His people. He made us to love and fellowship with us.
Consider how bold this statement was. Friendship with God was beyond the comprehension of those of Old Testament understanding. David and a few others seemed to have something special, but for most is was just a matter of trying to keep laws and hope the priest could keep them from destruction. But now, John was telling them that they actually had fellowship the Father, just like they had with Jesus.
This world needs to know that they can know God and not only that they can know Him, but also that they must know Him, for everything good comes from Him. Everything that they lack can be found in Him and if they think they lack nothing they are really missing a great deal. God has people who are prepared to know Him and they are just waiting for someone to show them they can. Be in fellowship with your eyes and ears open to see who God wants to use you to reveal Himself to.
