GOD DOES GOOD

The people of the world will see the good I do for my people and will tremble with awe!(Jeremiah 33:9)

As we look at all the words that God gave to Jeremiah, we see most of it as God warning His people of coming judgment. But the underlying tone is God saying, I do not want to do this so would you please change your ways, because I really want to do you good. I believe that God is very serious about wanting to do good for Israel. We should pray for the peace of Jerusalem, because God promises blessings to those that love Israel.

Right now, we are seeing only a small part of all the good that God wants to do for His people. Once all the good that He has planned for Israel kicks in, the flood gates will be opened for the rest of His people as well. He is getting His church ready to handle all that He has planned.

I know that many like to focus on the suffering that is going on and that is yet to come. But does God really want His people to suffer? Of course not. What good father would want his children to suffer. No good father enjoys punishing a child. Just as God says He could never forget Israel, neither will He forget any of the rest of His people.

He continually calls upon on us to trust Him and to do what is right. To seek the truth and to follow it. That is what God has called us to do. When we spend more time trying to figure why things are the way they are, than we do believing they will be the way God says they will be, we end up confused and entering into unbelief and fear, which is sin.

In this scripture, God says, “the day is coming when I will do so much for my people that all who hear will fear and tremble for all the goodness and prosperity that I provide for them.” Doesn’t it make more sense to look to what God promises than to get bogged down in circumstances.

Look at Daniel, he was reading the book and realized that God had promised deliverance after 70 years. He did the math and started to pray telling God, it is time! In Jeremiah, it simply says the day will come. So why shouldn’t we pray, let today be the day. Lord open the eyes of the world by doing such great things for your people, that they can no longer deny that you alone are God. Let it begin in Jerusalem and spread to the utter most parts of the earth. And let all your people declare, “Praise the Lord of hosts, for the Lord is good, for His mercy endures forever.”
