GOD FIRST

You must not have any other God but me. (Deuteronomy 5:7)

The Lord has never wavered. He does not change. We can and must trust Him. We must love and honor Him. He must always be first. God desires that we have prosperous and satisfied lives. The way to have that life is in Him. He gave us the guidelines and told us what we could expect when we follow them. God can accomplish this in the life of everyone who will make Him their first desire.

It is not difficult to desire God, nor is it difficult to accomplish what he wants. It is difficult for us to get past our excuses. We have a tendency to water the seed the devil plants in our minds more than the seed that the Holy Spirit plants!

Think about it. It seems easier to make excuses than it is to make a decision to keep ourselves on the path the Lord has carefully planned! Peter reminds us to be careful to live properly among the unbelievers so that even if they accuse us of doing wrong our honorable behavior will shine when God judges the world.

Unfortunately, there will always be people who refuse to put God First. Right up to the end of time there will be those who refuse to trust in God. That is such a sad thing. Today, if you hear God’s voice, run to Him.

Unbelievers need to see the power of God working in our lives. They need to see that He is able to do the impossible. They need to see us standing for what is right. They need to see that the benefits of following God far outweigh the cost of being faithful.

Do we spend more time praising God, or complaining about the people who do not know Him? Can we really give thanks in every circumstance? We are not required to be thankful for every situation, only to be thankful to God in the midst of difficulties.

We have a mess going on in our nation. People who do not know God can see that! Still, there is something God requires of us, and that is that we reveal Him in every area of our lives. We can take advantage of the mess and be good messengers. We can reveal the victory that is in Jesus!

Multitudes need salvation and messes tend to open doors.  By all means, we should pray for the Lord to intervene and save the nation and the world, but wouldn’t it be great if we not only saw the ship upright, but full of faith filled people as the ultimate bonus.

These things are happening. Even if we do not see them; they are happening. What is happening in us? What is happening in my life? What is happening in your life?

Are we taking the opportunity to draw nearer to God? Are we encouraging others to do the same? Are living in a way that challenges others to put God first? Are we reflecting the joy that God gives us? Are we walking in faith and victory?
