GOD HELP THEM

I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. (1 Timothy 2:2 NLT)

I love the way the Lord highlights truth in new and wonderful ways. Truly His word is a living word. I have no idea how many times I have said, “Oh lord help them” but with no thought as to just how powerful that prayer is. To be honest, more often than not it was probably not really even said prayerfully. Well I do believe that has changed now. We do not have to know what to pray for all people we simply need to prayerfully ask God to help them and give thanks for them.
Jesus prayed forgive them! He was willing to make an excuse for them and to forgive them simply because they had no idea what they were really doing. There a lots of occasions where I may have no idea what I am really doing. Lord help me! Lord help. Oh Lord. These are probably the best prayers I pray.
So have you ever thought about storms or that stormy days get more notice than nice days. They keep records of storms and give casual acknowledgement of all the nice days in between. Sadly, this is probably very true in our walk with God as well. It seems the storms and trials get much more notice than all the days where there is peace and joy. A key to overcoming all of this is calling. When we call He hears us.
Jesus would have slept through the storm in the boat if the disciples had not called Him. He took care of problem and then he taught them. He would have walked right on by on the water if they had not called Him. Then He and Peter walked on the water and they went to shore. All they had to do was call.
All we have to do is call! Do we believe that if we can believe; all things are possible? Do we believe a prayer as simple as, “God help them,” will do any good? Do we want God to help them? Often times when we throw up a God help them or a God help you prayer it is more with an attitude that they are hopeless! It is more of a writing them off prayer. It may have been that way, but not anymore!
I realize it may not be that way for everyone, but I have to be honest and say that probably more often than not when I have prayed that prayer it was not necessarily in a prayerful attitude. I am certainly glad that God can still make use of what we pray even if we do not know what we are doing. The truth is, God helped me and I should want Him to help others; not just certain ones but all people.
There is no such thing as a simple truth, but often times what look like simple truths seem the most difficult to follow. Good to know that if we will follow, the truth will make us free.
