GOD IS BIGGER

For you are great, and do wondrous things; you alone are God. (Psalm 86:10 NKJ)

There is a long list of things that we can train ourselves to say in any given situation. Every culture has their sayings. Every family has different things that have been passed down from generation to generation. Many of the things that we pick up are so automatic that we don’t even notice we say them until someone points it out to us wondering where in the world that came from. Some of these things are good, some are funny, and some are not so good, but we say them anyway.

With that in mind, I want to introduce a new saying that will work for every circumstance. It is more than likely one that we have all spoken at one time or another, but maybe never made a habit out of it. You can use the same words, or you can choose other words as long as they convey the same message. As for me, I am determined to make “God is bigger” a response to whatever may come my way.

Someone might ask me to be more specific: after all, there are some things that it looks like God just cannot handle! That is not true. God is bigger than anything. God was bigger than the serpent in the Garden of Eden. The serpent may have bruised man’s heel, but God was big enough to smash his head. God was bigger than Goliath. He was bigger than the walls of Jericho. He was bigger than a fiery furnace. He is bigger than our sin. Remember, He is able to do abundantly above and beyond anything we can hope or imagine.

The enemy spends a lot of time trying to convince us that this is not true. If He can just keep us from trusting God and from saying the truth, he can slide us over into doubt. Then instead of saying, “God is bigger,” we may begin to think and say, “Maybe God can’t handle this.”

Remember the story of the little engine that just kept saying, “I think I can?” Medical experts confirm the benefit of a merry heart and a positive attitude. What could be more positive than to know that God is bigger. The Joy of the Lord is our Strength. And no matter what success we may have, God is still bigger than that. In this way we will remember to remain humble before God.

So what is attempting to diminish your faith in God? Are you so successful that you have forgotten how much you need Him, or have you been so viciously attacked from every side that you have tossed in the towel? Well the good news is that God is bigger than your pride and He is bigger than any weapon that is formed against you. Begin to remind yourself that God is bigger. Say it until it is the most prominent thought on your mind. Say it till it is your answer for every circumstance. Start now. Say, “God is bigger.”
