GOD IS FAITHFUL
For what if some did not believe? Will their unbelief make the faithfulness of God without effect? Certainly not! Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar.(Romans 3:3&4 NKJ)
It is no secret that God is faithful. It also no secret that not everyone believes that! But as I read this scripture it hit me in a new way. I realized that it really does not matter if everyone is on the same page. I want as much as anyone for all people to come to know Jesus as Lord and savior, but what I am talking about here has to do with agreement and unity and the flow of the spirit.
Up until I saw this in a knew way, I was always concerned that we needed to have everyone on the same wavelength in order for the Spirit of God to have liberty or take liberty amongst us. As worship leader, I did not want anything or anyone to quench the Spirit. I love the Holy Spirit, and want Him to be free to do all He desires. Because of this, whenever something would happen that I sensed was not in the flow, I would feel bad for the Holy Spirit, and inadvertently allow Him to be interrupted. Not because He was affected, but because I was.
Suddenly I saw in this verse that no amount of unbelief can stop the faithfulness of God unless I allow it to. I began to see that when Jesus could not do many miracles in His home town because of their unbelief, it was not Him who was limited, rather it was them because they would not ask or expect. They knew Him before you know. And when they were all with one accord in the upper room and they were all filled. God was ready to fill whoever was ready to be filled! If only half of them had been ready, then only half would have received. They received because Jesus told them they would, not because they were of one accord. One accord was certainly nice, but God moves when God wants no matter what.
It is good, great, grand and wonderful to be in agreement. But don’t feel like God will cease to be faithful because someone does not believe. Jesus said that He was a witness, and that His Father and the Spirit bore witness with Him as well. Who better to agree with than the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.
I truly believe that there is power when a whole bunch of people join together in prayer, and the more we do it the better. All I am saying here is that God is faithful no matter what. If we can believe, then all things are possible to them who believe. If some in our services do not believe or are not in the flow, they can not stop God. So often, we are robbed of what God is doing because we allow someone else’s unbelief to steal our faith. Well, we can’t let go so easily. If we will trust God, we will find that He is faithful and able to do abundantly above and beyond all that we could hope or imagine.
Don’t let the actions, indifference, or unbelief of others rob you of the faithfulness of God. Don’t let anything cause you to give up on what God is doing. He is always faithful!
