GOD IS RIGHT
I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in Him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.(Romans 15:13)
Is my faith about me or about God? Is it so that I will get the rewards of God or so that I will get close to God? Do I mean it when I tell the Lord, “You are my everything, You are all I want and all I ever needed, and I have to get closer to you?”
I have been thinking about the fact that God is right and as I have considered that, many thoughts have flooded my mind. The truth is that God never invited us to debate whether or not His right. He said, “I am the Lord and there is no other.” He said, “I am!” It is good to seek the Lord for understanding, but it not up to us to determine if He knows what He is talking about! God is right. If we enter His presence with this thought as our guide it makes things a lot simpler.
Remember, for many years believers had only their trust in God to sustain them. There was only an occasional letter from Paul and others to encourage them. They learned to long for those letters and because they did, the Holy Spirit fill them with joy as they received the word into their hearts. They trusted that these words were from God. Those who did not trust fell by the wayside.
We simply cannot stand if we do not believe with all our hearts that God is right. No matter what we want, we must want Him most. Knowing that opens the door for God to fix things in our life. Jesus stood on this belief. He died believing that God would fix it. Speaking of that, does it bother you that Jesus had to die so you could be forgiven? This was another thing that streamed across my brain and my quick answer was yes. My next thought was, then it should bother me to do anything that shows no respect for that sacrifice.
I so much want to bring God joy. He spoke from heaven when Jesus was baptized and told Him that He brought Him great joy. I want to bring God joy. I know He is right. He is always right. And I know all things are possible with God. I want the rewards of faithfulness, whatever they may be. John was beheaded. Jesus was crucified. Many have died for their faithfulness. I want everything in me that does not bring God joy to die.
There is no such thing as loving God enough or believing God enough. There is no such thing as enough faith. Paul said he had not yet arrived and yet he was confident that He had fought a good fight and finished his course and was ready.
God is able to complete the good work He has begun in us. We need to seek and trust Him. As we draw near to the celebration of the death and resurrection of Jesus, let’s draw nearer to God. Let’s trust Him more, praise Him more, and declare to all that God is right!
