GOD KEEPS PROMISES
He has remembered His promise to love and be faithful to Israel. (Psalm 98:3)
Many people have a hard time seeing what Israel has to do with us today. Some even try and say that the promises to Israel apply to the present day church and not to the nation of Israel and the Jews. It would be very sad if this were true! Why? Well, because if God’s promises to Israel no longer apply to the one’s He made the promises too, it would mean that God does not keep His promises.
If God could forget Israel, then He could forget any one of us as well. How could we trust God if He changed His mind concerning promises He made to Israel. That verse goes on to say that the whole earth has seen the salvation of God. Everyone knew that Israel was chosen of God and whenever God came to their aid, the whole world saw that He was the true God because He kept His promises.
I don’t know about you, but it is important to me that God reveals Himself in the protection and the salvation of Israel. It is important to me to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, because God has many promises that He makes to those who love Israel and who will pray for them.
If I believed that God could change His mind concerning Israel, then I would have to be concerned that He might change His mind about my salvation. If that were true then all that Jesus said would be questionable. Oh my, when a person begins to question and doubt the Word of God there is a big hole opened up for the enemy to come in and deceive and destroy.
So, aren’t you glad that God keeps His promises? Don’t you want God to continue to keep His promises to love and be faithful to Israel? Of course you do. Why? Because as you look at the promises He made and kept concerning Israel you can see how those promises are passed on to children of faith. We can look and see that even when it looked like there was no hope, God came to the rescue. Israel went from slaves to having the silver and gold of Egypt. It happened over night. They were thirsty and water came from a rock. They were hungry and manna came from heaven. They marched around Jericho and shouted and the walls came down. And the list goes on and on.
God continually did and does the impossible for Israel and He has promised to do the same for all who will believe. Yes, I am glad that God is still keeping His promise to love and be faithful to Israel. It helps to assure me that no matter how things may look at times; He has not forgotten His promises. The same is true concerning you.
