GOD NEVER DISAPPOINTS

And this expectation will not disappoint us. For we know how dearly God loves us, because He has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with His love. (Romans 5:5 NLT)

One thing we must settle in our hearts is that God does not disappoint. We may be disappointed with things in our lives, but God is not the source of our disappointment! Our focus may be on the wrong things, and circumstances may stack up against us, but it is a fact that as we learn to turn to God and trust Him disappointments are swallowed up in His victory.

At one time or another we have all been the cause of someone else being disappointed when we really had no intention of disappointing them. There are times when people are disappointed and they look for someone else to blame, rather than accepting the fact that it is there own thinking or focus that led to the let down. For instance, if my children want to go shopping and they plan a trip to do it with their mother and then I make other plans not knowing their plans. You can imagine that there are some unhappy campers and since I am the one who messed up the plans, I am the source of the disappointment. In truth, it is not my fault, but that does not change the blame.

The same thing happens when things to do not go the way we want them too. Often time’s people blame God. It is bad enough that people who do not really know Him want to blame Him for everything bad that happens, but it is even worse that people who do know Him, don’t take the time to know Him well enough not to blame Him for the disappointments in life.

As you read in Romans you see that as we endure things trusting God, we find that we always come out on the other side better than we entered the situation. It is sort of like a car wash. If you drive in and let the machine do what it is supposed to do you will drive out with a cleaner car. On the other hand, if you drive in and decide you don’t like that type of machine and just drive out the other side, your car will look worse than when you drove in. If we say we believe, love, and trust the Lord, then we can sit in the wash with confident expectation of our salvation. We can expect victory and blessing.

God tells us that this kind of expectation will never lead to disappointment. We can be certain of this because we know how much God loves us. He gave us the Holy Spirit to remind us. Whenever we are in a struggle, we can be sure that the Holy Spirit is busy reminding us how much God loves us and that He has not forgotten us. He reminds us of the Word of God that we have hidden in our hearts so that we will not sin against God by doubting and getting into fear and worst of all blaming God.

It will take effort on our part to stay strong and not fall into the enemy’s traps, but that is why God warns us to fight the good fight of faith. Faith in God will never result in disappointment. Faith in God never fails. We can expect His salvation in all things. He will not disappoint us. That is His promise and He does not lie.
