GOING OUT AND COMING IN
And remember the words of the Lord Jesus that He said "It is more blessed to give than to receive."(Acts 20:35)
There are so many scriptures that speak of giving and how giving opens the door to receiving. The blessing in Deuteronomy 28 speaks of being blessed going out and blessed coming in along with many other areas of blessing for our lives. Once again I am reminded of how this applies to our loving God.
The thought came to me as to how our physical hearts work. Blood comes in and blood goes out. If something obstructs blood from getting in, then the supply going out is affected, and if the supply going out is restricted the same is true. The worst case happens when the flow is completely stopped. Even with the greatest medical advances, if the flow is completed stopped the result is death.
With this in mind, I considered the fact that nothing can separate us from the love of God. In other words, the flow to us is constant and consistent. We can however, restrict the flow of that love. We can simply refuse to receive it! How can we do that? Well think about it; have you ever rejected someone’s love or affection? Have you put up walls simply because you were not about to forgive, forget, or forgo your moment of either feeling sorry for your self or your desire to get back at someone?
Now tell me, how do you feel if someone rejects your love? How do you feel when someone doubts your love? When that flow is restricted, things begin to die, and it takes some determination to manage the damage before it all falls apart. Sometimes even though we see it happening and know we should do something about it, we still refuse to do what we need to do. The thing that begins the restoration is when someone is willing and determined to give love out. The love going out begins to clear the way for the love to flow back in.
So what am I trying to say here? Well, there is an abundant supply of God’s love, but there are times for one reason or another that we slow and even block the flow of that love that is coming to us. The moment that we open up and focus our love on Him, the gates are once again opened wide.
God’s love is everywhere; we simply have to be open to recognize it. When we are loving Him we can see it. We can see it because we are expecting it. We can see it because we are looking for it. We are more blessed for giving love to God, because our love allows us to more freely receive His love. The more we love, the less we doubt. The more we love, the more we believe. And if we can believe, then all things are possible with God. In everything, depend on God, trust God, call on God, and in so doing, you will experience the healthy new heart that God promised each of us.
