GOING PUBLIC
I have taken a stand, and I will publicly praise the Lord.(Psalm 26:12 NLT)
In our society today, we see lots of stuff about the stock market. Commercials talking about a different kind of investor and etc. In the markets, going public gives a company an opportunity to have people pour money in so that they can grow and be a greater success. But just going public does not make a company a success. They have to perform as well. They have to show people something that will give them reason to invest. Many companies that go public, also go broke and those who invest lose their investment.
When it comes to following the Lord, there is more to going public than just saying I am a Christian. The New King James says in the congregations I will bless the Lord. God does not want us just to hide inside our walls and bless Him only when we are together. He wants to take a public stand. Or should I say that He wants us to publicly bow, by doing what He would have us do, rather than what our flesh may want at times.
It is a sad fact that lots of people go “public” with their faith in word, but their actions say something a bit different. God wants our public offering to be one that reflects Jesus. Otherwise, we become a bad advertisement for the best company ever.
God is looking for a different type of partner. One who is totally committed to His vision. One who will eat, drink, sleep, and breath for the good of the kingdom. God wants us to be people who look forward to every opportunity to publicly reveal what He promotes. Sometimes this is definitely through words, but more often it is our actions that will either sell people on our company or turn them away.
We have a responsibility to properly represent the Kings of Kings and the Lord of Lords. It is not up to someone else, each of us has been chosen for a purpose. Nothing makes me more angry that to have someone publicly “say” they follow Jesus, but then their actions say other wise. The one that I get the maddest at is myself. I really can’t get to disappointed in other people when I am still getting it right myself. So I am going public and saying to God straighten me out so that I will not be a false advertisement. May I never bring shame to you Lord. Please forgive me when I do, and lead me in the right path.
I know that none of us will ever please everyone, but we need to make it our hearts desire to please God. What pleases Him is when we choose His way and His will in every circumstance. This is what shows people that we are who we say we are. When Jesus was tired, He still had time for the people. When someone was sick, He had time to heal them. When they were bound, He had time to free them. Even when someone betrayed Him, He broke bread with them. There is no doubt that God’s will, will be done. There is no doubt that He is the greatest one to invest our lives in. The dividends are astronomical and the risk is non existent. What kind of representative will we be?
