GOOD MORNING
He is not here; for He is risen, as He said...as they went to tell His disciples, Jesus met them, saying, "Rejoice!"(Matthew 28:6 & 9)
Oh, what a morning it was. What a shock for these women to go and find the tomb empty. Then to have an angel tell that He is not there, and that He has risen just like He told them He would. Isn’t it interesting, that the people who were around Him the most, saw all the miracles that surrounded His ministry, and saw everything that He said would happen, happen, still did not expect Him to rise from the dead.
These women were still in a time of serious mourning, and were ready now to do what they thought would be their last service to the one they called “Lord,” and He was gone. Then he appears to them and has just one word for them, “REJOICE!!” Even with Him standing there, they have a hard time believing. Still, Jesus takes the time to do what every he must to convince them.
Anyone who has read the accounts of Jesus resurrection in the gospels, knows that convincing them took some time and effort on Jesus part. He appeared to two men on a road, and then disappeared. He appeared to the ladies at the tomb, and later just showed up in a middle of a meeting of the disciples. He appeared for Thomas and let him know that He knew what Thomas had said about what it would take for him to believe. He fixed breakfast and ate it with them. He told them that He was sending the promise of the Father upon them, and went up in the clouds.
One thing that we need to remember, is that it was no easy task to get to this point. Jesus went through a lot to accomplish the Father’s will. Some of it he did so we would never have to, but the fact remains that there is a cost in being a disciple. We must be willing to do what ever He calls on us to do.
The other thing I desire to adapt in my life from this, is the willingness to do what ever I must to thoroughly convince people of the truth of God’s Word. Everything happened just as Jesus and the prophets said it would, and everything will continue to happen just as He said it will. Sure there will be some who just do not care, but I can not let that keep me from what God wants done.
The fact that Jesus was gone could have been enough proof, but He wanted to remove any possibility of doubt. He has not changed. He is perfectly willing to respond to our inquiries and to any doubts we may have. But we better be prepared for the revelation. Imagine how those women felt when they saw Him, or the men on the road. They said their hearts burned with in them. Imagine Thomas when Jesus held out His hands to him, or imagine that gathering of people as they watched Jesus rise into the air. Glory to God how their hearts must of felt like they would bust out of their chests. REJOICE!!
