GRACE WORKS
Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise His holy name. (Psalm 103:1)
Praise the Lord. Let all of God’s people praise the Lord. This is a day that the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it. I will. If I am not glad now, I will get there! God’s grace will get me there.
God told Paul that His grace was sufficient, so it must be true. Grace created praise in the hearts of Paul and Silas in prison. They sang and there was an earthquake, and everybody got saved. Yes, grace works! Let all that I am praise the Lord.
I was driving down the road and saw all the sparrow’s flying formations. Especially in the winter there are times when they are gathered on the sides of the road eating rocks or spilled grain and when you get close, they all fly in front and around the vehicle. Some of them do not survive, but most of them do! God cares about the sparrows. Why does he let that happen? Why do they fly in front of cars? I for one and happy when I do not hear a thud! Why am I saddened more when I see a hawk or an eagle dead beside the road? I also do not like to see a deer, a dog, or a cat.
I did not use to really care about such things, but Jesus changed all of that. He cares so much that He rubs off on us. Things we never gave a thought to have a way of getting our attention. His grace is working in my life. We love because he first loved us. As we grow in the understanding of His love for us, our love for Him grows and our trust in His word and His ways grows too.
His grace enables us to shake off our fears and trust how much He cares. Paul discovered that grace worked in prison, in beatings, in being stoned and left for dead. God’s grace was so great that Paul bragged about how it worked in his life, and it will work in ours too. Yes, let God arise and His enemies be scattered.
I noted in my journal, birds, hair, and sabbath, because these were things that I was hearing as I read God’s word. It is a peculiar combination, but it made perfect sense to me. God cares about the very hairs of our heads. To me that says nothing is unimportant. God wants us to know that He sees, and He cares about everything. I can sit in my home and pray around the world, and I can be sure that He hears, and He cares. When I think of it, it amazes me. Sometimes, I think about things and wonder why I never thought about them before. Grace is working.
We can wonder about God’s choices. He chose Abraham because he believed! Even when Abraham blew it, He still made a nation from Him. He made them great even though they blew it. He rescued them and they blew it. He sent them a savior and they blew. He raised Jesus from the dead so we could be rescued and made great by believing in Him. Don’t blow it!
Enter into His rest. Receive and walk in His grace. Lord give us eyes to see your grace working in our lives. Give us hearts that desire you more each day. Every day I will praise you, Lord. Every day I will thank you Lord. Don’t let me blow it! By your grace, I know it is all working.
