GREATEST DANGER
So don't be afraid...For it gives your Father great happiness to give you the Kingdom. (Luke 12:32)
We do not run to God out of fear of the devil; we run because we understand that the Kingdom is for us and in us. The greatest danger for any follower of Jesus is, letting up.
Continue in the faith. This is God’s instruction. He is telling us there is more! No matter how far we have come or how long we have run to Him; there is more. It is sad when someone says, “Why should I go on or I can’t go on.” This comes from a fading vision of how wonderful God is. It often takes place when a person feels that God has failed or forgotten them. The truth is that He has promised to never forget us or let us down.
Remember in Jurassic park when they were driving like crazy to get away from the dinosaur and through the gate to safety; the scene focused more on the danger behind than the gate ahead. We do not need to focus on the danger of the past or the attacks of the enemy. We need only to look unto Jesus who is the author and finisher of our faith. This why Jesus could say with such assurance not to fear; the Father is happy to give us the kingdom. The gate is open. Press on.
He has promised to renew our strength. It is not unusual to feel warn down. It is not unusual to pick up your Bible and have it seem like you are hearing nothing at all. Remember, the devil lurks about seeking who he may gobble up. A Don Francisco song said that if satan the deceiver comes whispering in your ear, just tell him he is defeated and he has not business here. He is the one that suggests you are tired and that it is not worth the effort and to give up. God said to simply resist him and he will flee. It is an easy choice to decide who you want to listen to.
We are also promised seasons of refreshing from the Holy Spirit. When does the refreshing come? The refreshing comes when we press in and continue on. He is the bridge over your troubled waters. Keep looking to Jesus.
You may be fine, and that is great! You may have felt this way and pressed through so this is only a confirmation to you. It may also be that this is the very thing you are going through and God is speaking to you that your victory is now. Don’t let up. Breakthrough is yours. God is the God of breaking through. Oh, His promises are so true!
It is also possible that you have never started because you have never heard of God’s promise of the Kingdom. You may have stalled right after hearing about Jesus or maybe you have never really considered eternity. The plan is the same for all of us. Get in and run the race for the prize of the high call of God in Christ Jesus, and never, never, never, let up. If you have; fear not. Just get back in the race with your eyes on Jesus. Don’t you feel refreshed? Praise the Lord.
