HAPPY AND TO BE ENVIED

Blessed and happy and to be envied is the person of whose sin the Lord will take no account nor reckon it against him. (Romans 4:8 AMP)

There is certainly a sense of relief and release in being forgiven. Even those outside the body of Christ are relieved when someone forgives them. Since we know that is the case, we know it is an even bigger deal to be forgiven by God. Every person who has come to repentance and received the forgiveness of all of their sins knows that joy. I believe that we all feel relieved and yes even blessed for a bit, but then what? Think about that.

Well for a whole lot of people, “what’s next?” is the question that continues to be asked. People often times get stalled right there. We think the answer must be at the church, but often times, that is just not the case. Lots of churches don’t know! Where is the abundant life that Jesus promised? Is life with Christ really just waiting to have our ticket for heaven punched? I have had a lot of fun waiting in lines from time to time, but it is not what I want to do for my whole life

God tells us here that we are blessed. The extended meaning of blessed in this instance is that we should be happy because we are in an enviable position. The only people I would envy standing in line would be the ones in the front of the Line! What is up at the front of the line anyway that is enviable. Nothing! Absolutely nothing! If we are just standing around waiting for heaven, then it does not matter where we are in the line. When the Lord returns we are all gone at once. The sad fact is that a lot of people just get tired of waiting in that line and head on with life their own way.

Let me tell you why I am happy. I am happy because when my sins are gone, I am free from the curse! If I am free from the curse then the only line I am in is the one for the blessings of God. There is more good news in that because there are no long lines for God’s blessings. Each of us has our own line and we are at the head of it.

God’s plan is that we be envied. And we will be envied when we begin to grasp the truth of what He is saying. This blessing and happiness is intended for everyone. When we are experiencing the happiness God produces in us, then others are attracted to the God in us and they want what we have. When we know what we have, we in turn have confidence to share it with others and they get it too.

God’s main purpose in getting our sins removed is to get us back to where He can do for us what He always wanted to do for us. Adam and Eve hit a speed bump in the garden and slowed things down, but Jesus came to get things back up to speed. The Holy Spirit is always encouraging people that there is more, that is why we all wonder, “Now what?” Well, all I can say is there is a lot more, and don’t let anyone tell you different. You are blessed. So be happy and expect God to make you a person who is envied.
