HAVE YOU HEARD

Happy are those who hear the joyful call to worship, for they will walk in the light of Your presence, Lord. (Psalm 89:15 NLT)Blessed are the people who know the joyful sound (NKJ)

Have you heard? Do you know? There is an abundance of people who have heard about the joyful call to worship, but they don’t know that it is a joyful thing. There are others that have never even heard the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. And there are of course those who have heard about God, but have not known He is joyful God.

I realize that there are many areas in the above list that overlap one another, and situations that bring about the sad results. And so it is obvious that a person must both hear and know the good news. Hearing will most certainly help a person to know the truth and the truth is what makes them free. On the other hand, knowing can lead us to want to hear. I say that, because in my case, knowing that there had to more to this life caused me to search and my search allowed me to hear the good news.

So, a person could say that God has put something in us that causes us to find an answer for what we know. That is probably why God’s Word tells us to get understanding. Are still with me here?

The question of the day is whether or not you see worshipping God as something that brings you joy. Do you look forward to the opportunities to join with others and worship God? Do you long for those moments when you just slip away and enjoy God’s presence?

There is a promise in this scripture if we do. God says that we will walk in the light of His presence, and that we will rejoice in His reputation all day long. In other words, we will rejoice because God’s reputation precedes Him. What He has done, He will continue to do. Hearing and knowing His joyous call gives us confidence in His reputation. It gives us that assurance that no weapon formed against us can prosper. It gives us that same faith that drove the woman who had been sick for years and years to just reach out and touch the hem of Jesus’ garment. She knew that when she touched it she would be well. She knew she would be whole. She knew she would be complete lacking nothing.

May God help us to see that a call to worship is a call to be in His presence and to expect Him to meet our needs, whatever they may be. When we see God that way, guess what will happen! Others will see Him that way as well. They will have opportunity to glorify God for what He has done in our lives. It will create a hunger in them to know this wonderful Lord and Savior and His joyous call. It will also help us to see the importance of shining His light in this world that surrounds us.
