HE ALREADY KNOWS

Your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. (Matthew 6:32 NLT)

As we continue to consider the importance of how we perceive, and receive the word of God, we should be truly excited when we consider that God already knows about all our needs. This is good news! This is better than good news; this is the best news we could ever hear. At least it should be, but of course that depends on whether or not we look at it with a pure eye.

You see, we can take Jesus at His word, or we can rationalize analyze it until it means something entirely different that what He said. Some say that since God knows all our needs, if we pray and we do not see the answer it must mean that it is not something we need. I admit I believed that myself at one time. But what if we just take it for what it says. Jesus simply said that we should not worry about such simple day-to-day things. He said that our Father in heaven knows what we need and He will give it to us if we will just live for Him and make the Kingdom of God our primary concern.

How would you feel if you had all your cupboards full of food and your kids got up every morning worrying about whether there would be enough for them? Better yet, how do you feel when you have provided for them and they complain that one thing they wanted is not there? You would probably tell them that they don’t need to complain. All they need to do is ask, and the next time you are at the store you will get it.

I was recently at a place and pizza was served and there were people who complained that there was not enough food. The truth was there was food left over, it just wasn’t their favorite kind. Next time it will be ordered differently. All they had to do was ask.

So we can look at what Jesus said about God knowing our needs through a pure eye that agrees that He does not lie and if He says it then that is the way it is, or we can let doubt enter in and try to qualify what God says according to our own understanding. If we do that, the Holy Spirit will remind us that God’s ways and thoughts are different from ours.

If we continue to doubt, ultimately we will have what we say. We may believe that God knows, but we end up thinking that God does not care. If we believe that God does not care, we will not care whether He knows or not. In fact if we believe that He knows everything but does not care, we will end up wondering why He cares about someone else and not about us. This kind of thinking can lead us down a road to bitterness and away from the kingdom of heaven.

We have a commission from Jesus Himself to go into the entire world and tell them the good news. The good news is that God knows and God cares. He cares so much that He gave His only Son to die for our sins. How will we convince anyone that He cares that much if we are not even convinced that He will take care of our daily needs? The way we see it, will be the way we convey it. If we are not sure of God, how will we help others? If God wants us to help others, it only makes sense that He will keep His word to us. When we are sure about this, our confidence will help others to be confident and make God and His Kingdom our primary concern.

God will see to it that things look good and that all is prepared for those who see the kingdom through our pure eyes. They will not be disappointed.
