HE GOT ME

Father, I want these people you have given me to be with me in every place I am. I want them to see my glory--"the glory you gave me because you loved me before the world was made. (John 17:24 ERV)

He got me! What did Jesus get out of the deal? What was His mission? What was the value received for all that He invested. What was the purpose of His life, death, and resurrection? It was you, me, and all who would believe. Can you say, “He got me?”
We spend the time leading up to the crucifixion and the resurrection concentrating on all that Jesus suffered for us as well we should. Now we should consider what He got out of the deal! John chapter 17 is the prayer that Jesus prayed. He prayed that God would give Him glory. He prayed that the glory would be seen by us and reflected through us.
Just as parents love to see their children shine; Jesus loves to see us shine. As I was considering the great price that Jesus paid and how grateful I am for His sacrifice, I sensed Him thanking me. Needless to say this stopped me short. Then He went on to point out that just as He died and was raised from the dead, we are required to die to ourselves and be born again in Him. It was a bit difficult to swallow the idea of Him being grateful for our sacrifices, and it still requires frequent chewing, but honestly, think about it.
As I have pondered this, I was reminded of Paul saying that he died daily. We too have opportunities on a regular basis to choose between life and death. He appreciates it when we choose Him.
Jesus said He wants us to be with Him in every place He is. Again, it means a lot to Him that we follow Him. We make the cycle complete. Without us there is no salvation. If we were not important, there would have been no reason to do what He did.
I am not trying to put us on a pedestal, but I want us to understand that we are important players in God’s plan and that if Jesus wants us to receive glory; we are going to need to have enough confidence to be glory bearers.
We absolutely could not do anything to be worthy. He made us worthy. A choice to believe Him is all it took. Now we are vessels ready for His glory. We are being changed from glory to glory. We are His proof that He is able to save us. We are His family pictures. In our home, we have a computer that continually rolls through family pictures. Sometimes I just stop and watch and remember. I am reminded of so many blessings.
Can you imagine that Jesus watches you and marvels at how you have grown? Can you imagine just how fond He is of you? Can you imagine that you are just what He wanted for His efforts and His sacrifice? Can you rejoice and say, “He got me?” How does that feel?
