HE HAS YOU
Whoever does not believe in the Son does not have the Father, but whoever accepts the Son has the Father too. Be sure that you continue to follow the teaching you heard from the beginning. If you do that, you will always be in the Son and in the Father. And this is what the Son promised us--"eternal life. (1 John 2:23-25 ERV)
In all things, we can be confident that if we have Christ, He has us better. He is faithful when we are not! He wins; so we win. Daniel saw a vision of Jesus ruling and His kingdom never ends. Jesus came and left us the keys to the kingdom, so we live in a kingdom that will never end. This is not a new thing, but it is an important thing for us to hold on to.
No matter what it looks like. No matter what it feels like. No matter what anyone else tries to tell us; He has us. We can trust Him!
Recently, I heard a song and it has stuck in my brain. It is an old country song with the big line being, “I’ve got your picture; he has you.” This morning I began to see it as a lament of the devil. He had all of us, but Jesus came to set us free. Now all the enemy can do is sing sad songs about how he lost us. He has his memories of how he manipulated and stole from us and thought he had us forever, but God had a different plan. Now He has us.
He not only has us, but He has plans for every person that He does not yet have secured. It seems so trite to say, but the truth is that He never planned for anyone to perish! These are not just hollow words and promises. These are the truths that not only set us free, but they keep us as we believe and trust in them.
Of course there are times when it sure seems like He is distant, but those are times when we draw near and faith makes it clear that He has neither left nor forsaken us. Bible readers know of the time that Daniel prayed and started a battle that lasted for weeks before the victory was visible. We may be able to name things that we have all but forgotten about because we felt nothing was happening and the suddenly…We probably have things that take place in response to prayers that we have forgotten we even prayed for. And there are probably a few that we prayed for and got answers to and never even thanked Him for!
Still, we can be confident that He has us. As we celebrate the Christmas season, we celebrate the completion of God’s plan to get us and keep us. These are holy days. Every day is a holy day in the Kingdom of God because everything set apart unto God is holy. So through Christ, you are holy; set apart unto God. Happy Holy Days!
He has you. Take comfort in that in these uncomfortable times. Fear not! He has you.
