HE HEALED THEM

Then His fame went throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all sick people who were affected with various diseases and torments...and He healed them. (Matthew 4:24 NKJ)

That just sounds too simple doesn’t it! They brought them and He healed them. They brought them because they expected Jesus to do the same thing for them that they heard He did for others. Jesus did not disappoint. And yet we know that even Jesus could heal only a few in His hometown because of their unbelief.

Have you ever noticed how much time is spent explaining why God may not heal or why is some cases He did not heal. I know that I have been guilty of preparing people for no answer from God. I am happy to say that I say that in the past tense. I refuse to ever do that again. I am determined to hold fast to this very verse and declare that if He healed them then, He is still healing now. If it requires going again and again and standing and standing, I believe it is more beneficial to plan for victory that to plan for defeat. This of course applies to much more than just physical healing. The same principle stands for every part of our lives.

Whether we are physically, emotionally, financially, mentally, or any other type of sick, He is the one with the answers. It is really no problem at all for Him to help. He can do what He says He can do and He will do what He says He will do. If we can believe it, all things are possible with God. Why in the world do people spend time trying to explain why Jesus probably did not really mean what He said when He said that? If He did not mean that, then maybe He did not mean anything. Maybe He really did not mean that He would save anyone who called on His name. Of course people do try to qualify that statement too. If we doubt the integrity of what Jesus said, we are not people of faith.

It looks to me like the more wide open and expectant the people were to the power of God moving in their lives, the easier it was for them to receive. They believed what they heard about Jesus and they came and were healed. They did not get caught up with questioning the strange stories they heard, instead they were caught up in the possibility of the miracles being true. They did not care what He looked like or how He did it, they just wanted what He had to offer, and He was more than happy to meet their every need.

Previous knowledge and preconceived notions are severe blockages to the power of God. Fortunately, open minds and willing hearts are super highways for the promises of God to travel on. Can God supply all of our needs? Will He? Our answers to those questions open or shut the doors to the Kingdom of God where our lives are concerned.

Don’t deny Jesus the honor and glory of proving Himself in your life. Go to Him expecting Him to prove His Word. Be like Jacob and refuse to let go of the promises of God. The blessing of the Lord be upon you.
