HE IS GOD
"You are My witnesses," says the Lord, "and My servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe Me, and understand that I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, nor shall there be after Me." (Isaiah 43:10 NKJV)
Simply understanding that He is God, can and will cause rough roads to smooth out, mountains to move, and refreshing to come into our lives. It is of course much easier to say, “It is not that simple,” than it is to actually put the Word of God to work. However, whenever we actually do it, we find that it truly was the simplest thing in the world.
Have you ever told someone that you understand what they are saying, when in fact you really had no clew, but it was easier to say you understood than to keep listening? Well it is not necessary for us to understand everything about everything in order to enjoy what they do or to avoid what they do. For instance, I do not need to understand how an airplane prop can make the plane fly in order to take the flight, nor do I need to reach out and touch the spinning prop to understand that I should not get near it.
We can in fact perfectly understand what someone wants and refuse to comply as well. Speed limits are clearly posted on the freeway, but if one person refuses to follow them because they would rather drive 100 mph and another prefers to drive 35, both are hazardous to those who understand that they should do what the signs say. The Bible has many references to what happens when everyone decides to go their own way.
So what does this have to do with God? Well, God has afforded us the privilege of knowing Him. As we come to know Him and believe what He says and trust Him, our relationship deepens as we experience His promises. This in turn, brings us to the place where we have such complete confidence in His character that even though we may not see clearly the whole picture of things around us, we can still take comfort and stand confidently on the fact that He is God!
David lamented that he had been betrayed by those closest to Him, and it was hard on him. Ultimately, he found his comfort in the fact that God stood by him just like He always did. David always understood that even when he did not understand, He could always count on God. We, like David, can come to that place where God is enough! Then, when someone says, “but you don’t understand what I am saying, seeing, feeling, or going through;” we can agree that we may not understand all that, but we do understand that He is God! David told himself this often and so should we!
There will always be someone who will try to poison your pot. There will always be someone or something that will attempt to move you off of the solid foundation of Jesus Christ. But if we will press in on the presences of God who we know and believe, and rely on our understanding that He is God; if we are moved or even we fall, we will rise again. Remember, the things we know best are the things we understand the most. God places a lot of importance upon our understanding that above all, He is God!
