HE KNOWS

The Lord says, “Now I show them my power; now I show them my might. At last, they will know and understand that I am the Lord. (Jeremiah 16:21)

I have made special note of this verse every year for 41 years. I know that He is the Lord. I never forget that He is! Lord forgive me, when I fail to act like it. Yes, I always come to the same conclusion. I am guilty. I am not guilty of some things. I have been forgiven for awful things. I am washed in the blood of the lamb. I love the Lord. And so goes my response to this verse on a regular basis.

There is a way to know. There is a way to grow. It will not happen if we neglect the Holy Spirit. He alone knows. He alone is the one who God says will lead us into all truth. He is the only one that we can leave and not be forgiven for leaving. So why do you suppose that so many people feel we should stay away from Him?

Every believer should desire to be filled with the Holy Ghost and power. That is how Jesus came out of the wilderness. He was ready to take on the world. He alone can keep us from blending in with the world. Luke tells us that He will teach us what needs to be said. He will not only teach us, but He will empower us to go ahead and say it!

Why do we treat Holy Spirit like he is a controversial subject that we need to avoid? Why do we hesitate to walk in power? Why do we neglect His gifts? We should exalt Him and His gifts!

Oh, we need to be powerful. It is because we have neglected power that we are now afraid to walk in power and cower at the evil in the world. We see it, but we think we should be careful not to say too much.

Let’s face it, grey is fading, and darkness and light are all that is left. Let’s shine! Do we understand that He is the Lord? Another song comes to my mind. What good does it do to love Jesus, if we are the only ones we let know. What good does it do to love Jesus, when we hide behind doors that are closed. If we love Him, we need to show Him. We need to go out and spread the word. Tell everyone the story. The best one that ever was heard.

I read my bible! I pray! I go to church! So, what! Those are all great things. Do we stand for what we know is right and stand against what we know is wrong? Do we yield ourselves to the guidance of the Holy Spirit? He knows what is right and He leads us in what is right. He can take us from darkness to light. Noticing the darkness is one thing. Speaking to the darkness is quite another.

Lord, shine your light and let the whole world see. God says, I have! The light came into the world and the people refused to see. Here we are two thousand years later, and the darkness is so thick you need a knife to cut it. We have the sword of the spirit. What are we going to do with it? The darkness is not just going to go away. Shine your light.

Pray for the power of the Holy Spirit. Don’t limit Him to what you are comfortable with. Every single person who claims the name of Jesus, needs to arise and shine and give God glory.
