HE MAKES IT MAKE SENSE

I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 15:13 NLT)

Have you ever been confused and could not understand what was going on? If you haven’t, you are very fortunate! We all have. We were confused before we came to know Jesus. There always have been and always will be things that we just do not understand.

Now that we have come to Jesus, we always know exactly what is going on; right? No way. We are often more confused than ever before. After all, everything is supposed to be perfect now that we know Jesus. Nope. That is far from the way things really are.

The disciples were with Jesus in person, and they had no clue as to what was going on most of the time! They watched. They questioned. They even tried to give Jesus advice. They also tried to work their way into more important positions, but that was always a learning experience!

Mostly, they were along for the ride! They loved it when they went out and things happened for them like they did for Jesus. When they came with their exciting report, Jesus reminded them that they should be most thankful that their names were written in the book of life. I seriously doubt that they fully comprehended that statement!

Let’s face it, there is just so much that leaves us shaking our heads. We can read about the disciples and wonder how they missed it when they were right there with him. Then again, we miss it when He is right inside us! Remember, He pointed out that it was going to be better after He left, because He would be able to dwell in them.

So, look at us. He dwells in us! He dwells in you richly. Pause and think of that. Paul told the believers in Rome that He was praying for them to be filled completely with joy and peace. It seems the key was that they trust in Him.

Trusting the Lord should not be difficult, but there is a great deal of resistance to the idea of trust when things do not go our way. He promises to be with us, but we still have bad experiences. We pray and we do not see the answers we want. We pray for people, and they do not receive healing. Friends and family members die. People betray us. Marriages fall apart. Children drift away. You can add your circumstance to the list, but don’t dwell on any of it. We have a solution!

Jesus pointed to The Holy Spirit of God as our all-time answer for all things! Wait and listen, He will make it all make sense. He is so good that we can have joy, peace, and confident hope without any explanation at all.

When Jeremiah was ready to throw in the towel because he was the only one left, God assured him that there were seven thousand faithful believers in reserve out there. He did not show them to him, He just assured him it was true. When Jesus breathed on them and told them to receive the Holy Spirit, He was giving us the same key to completeness.
