HE WILL

...may he equip you with all you need for doing his will. May he produce in you through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to him. All glory to him forever and ever! Amen. (Hebrews 13:21 NLT)

We can be sure that God will do what He promises He will do. He desires to do what we desire more that we can imagine. He promises to give us the desires of hearts. As we grow in faith we grow in knowing that this is true. I read a statement that said we should not seek to understand so that we can believe, but we should believe so we can understand. In other words, we need to believe it before we will ever understand it. And even then, there may well be some things we just do not understand.
Fortunately, when we believe God that is enough. We are okay without totally understanding. We can continue to stand because our confidence is in Him. We can trust without understanding. This is how we believe without seeing.
This is also how we can do what God leads us to do even when it makes no natural sense. Recently I received the story about the man who bought a gallon of milk even though it did not make sense. Then he drove to a place late at night that did not make sense and knocked on the door of house with no lights on, which really made no sense only to discover that the person at the house had just finished praying about getting milk for their baby!
Following God does not always have to make sense to our minds, but by faith as we get excited about what God can do, we can be a part of amazing things.
Yes God will equip you with all you need for doing His will. The truth is we are equipped before we even have the desire. We are equipped before we ever have understanding. Are we ready to trust because we can, without having to understand?
We teach children to read before they understand what we are doing. I remember when I first learned to read, “See spot, see spot run!” You perhaps learned from a different book, but the results were the same. We did not understand what we were doing. We did not think we would ever make sense out of it. Then when we could we could not really understand why mom and dad were so excited, but we were glad they were pleased.
Well, God is excited to take us through this life of faith in Him before we are ever ready to start the trip. His plans for us are amazing. Just as a teacher plans for the good results; so does God. Just as a teacher encourages a child to just keep trying; so does God. He throws out amazing statements like, “All things are possible to those who believe.” We will get understanding if we will believe. He will equip and He will complete. All glory to Him forever and ever!
