HELP
Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.(Isaiah 41:10 NLT)
We all need help. In fact we probably need more help than we realize or are willing to admit. As we draw closer to God we should begin to see just how much we need Him. We truly are dependent upon Him for our next breath, and we have to breathe to live.
The key to being helped, seems to be receiving help. Have you ever tried to help someone who did not want help. No matter what you did, they just wanted to do it themselves. Have you ever been one who wanted to do it yourself and would not receive help. Certainly, there are circumstances where we must do it our selves. For instance, my six year old could not help me change the tire on the car. Fact is, she would probably hurt herself or get hurt if she tried to help with the jack or the lug nuts. Face it, there are some things that we are just better off doing ourselves.
This can be true in any situation when human help is the consideration. However, it is never true when it comes to getting help from God. He is better at everything. He knows more about everything. He is ready to help at everything. We just have to let Him.
Often times we simply will not let God help us. When we will not call on Him, or worse yet when we refuse the help He offers, we complicate things. He says, “don’t be afraid.” So that means there are things our there that are going to cause us to fear. Right away, we should call on God and overcome the fear.
If we wait to long, our fear will turn into dismay. Often times, we become dismayed wondering why God did not do something, or what we did to deserve this. Our fears begin to win and we resort to desperate acts.
To this God says, “I am your God.” He is the true God. He is not weak or blind or forgetful. He is not fickle, sometimes dependable and other times not. He is God and He is for you. He says, “I will strengthen you.” Even if we have ignored Him, disobeyed Him, and refused His help, even then, when we call, He will answer. He will give us strength to overcome the fears and get out of our confusion and dismay.
God says, “I will help you and I will uphold you.” He is not temporary help that is going to take off and leave you alone. He will strengthen, help, and then uphold you for just as long as you will receive His help. He guarantees victory by His victorious right hand.
God goes on to say that our enemies will be defeated. We will not even be able to find them. “I am holding you,” God says. “Don’t be afraid, I am here to help you.” God is serious about His part in our lives and His promises to us. He wants to help. He even sent the Holy Spirit to be our helper. If we let God help, we will not be disappointed.
