HELP ME
"What do you mean ‘if I can'?" Jesus asked. " Anything is possible if a person believes." The father instantly replied, "I do believe, but help me not to doubt!" (Mark 9:23-24 NLT)
When we think about everyone doing their part, it may be easy to overlook this very important part. Jesus said that all things are possible if a person believes. We are told to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and we will be saved. Everything begins with believing what God says. That includes believing that we have an important part in the body of Christ.
If we say that we believe God, then we must belief that this is true, because God has said in His word that we are to go into the entire world and spread the good news. God is good news. Jesus is good news. All things are possible to them that believe this, is good news. So the very best thing we can do in order to do our part is to believe.
I was reading an article recently that was written by a man who I believe hears from God. I read for while and as I was reading I was thinking that I should be reading my Bible instead. Suddenly a thought hit me, that if I believed that God still spoke to people then as read what this man had to say it was sort of like the believers in Bible times getting a letter from Paul. Please don’t run away yelling “heresy.” Think about it. God does speak to people yet today and He speaks wonderful things. Of course we must measure all things by the Bible, but if they measure up, then aren’t they teachings that are good for all the things that the written word of God is used for.
As we study the word, it only seems in order that God would reveal things to us that would be beneficial for others. Can we believe this? I believe that if we can, then we can have more confidence to accomplish what God intends for us to accomplish as we do our part to supply the needs of the body of Christ as well as reaching the world.
This is not an excuse to stop reading our Bibles, but it may help us to not feel like we are neglecting our Bible when we are reading something that God has revealed to one of His servants. There is not another testament of Jesus Christ, so we do not need to look for that. We do however need to seek God and the guidance of the Holy Spirit and ask Him to illuminate the word to us. The same God who wrote the book knows best how to help us to understand it. He also knows what will help others along the way to understand.
If we will believe, then all things are possible. Can you believe that God would reveal the perfect truth that would help you help someone? Do you have faith to agree when someone else believes and reach out and touch God with them? Our part is to believe and God’s part is to supply. Jesus asked if He would find faith when He returned. In other words, He wondered if He would find people believing. So the first part we must all do, is believe!
