HERE WE GO

“Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord! The king of Israel!” (John 12:13)

It struck me as I was driving yesterday, that we celebrate the destruction of the power of sin this week. Palm Sunday was the beginning of the victory week.

Can you believe that not everyone knows the story? Jesus comes into town to cheers with people declaring Him the King of Israel. Enthusiasm was running hot. Things could not be any better.

It was like a Super Bowl! But like a super bowl when the wrong team scores and scores the tune changed in a hurry. Since Jesus was not going to perform like they wanted they changed sides or tuned to another channel.

Here is the deal; Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. This was the way it was planned all along. It took centuries to get to this point but the power of sin was going down.

Free will would still be in play, but now people could choose to crush sin in the name of Jesus. With the greater one on the inside victory and freedom would be made possible.

It is hard for people to believe that it really is that simple. It is! Jesus said so. We just have to stay in the game and watch it play out.

We want miracles and I like miracles too, but people can forget miracles even when the miracle helps them. When we don’t get what we want, we have to make a choice. Is Jesus enough or is He not? Is His peace worth hanging on to? Is Joy and Love enough? Do we want to be free? Are we willing to fight the good fight?

Jesus won the battle for all of us! He suffered the shame and condemnation because He believed God and He loved us. He gave us the keys to the Kingdom and the power and authority to overcome.

Sometimes the victory is just getting up. Sometimes our victory results in us going to heaven. And yes, sometimes the victory is a giant sized miracle that everyone should rejoice when they see it. Sadly, we find out that this is often  the case.

Think about it. You get sick, you get healed, and you rejoice in the Lord and others are not impressed. Even with everything that went on later in the week with darkness, the earthquake, and ultimately Jesus rising from the dead people just walked away. Let’s celebrate Jesus and His victory over the power of sin. Let’s show the world what a life trusting Jesus looks like. Here we go!
