HONOR THE LORD

Call on Me in the day of trouble; I will rescue you, and you shall honor and glorify Me. (Ps. 50:15)

When we know God, we desire to honor Him. We desire to please Him. We desire to know Him better. This is because we want to follow the example that Jesus set. Jesus came to show us the Father. He also came to show us how to interact with the Father.
The same thing that drove the religious leaders crazy impressed the people who listened to Jesus. He spoke as though he was familiar with God. Of course He was familiar with God and this caused Him to speak with authority about God and for God.
Religion kept the people far from God and only let a few seemingly approach Him. They were still standing back from the mountain and afraid to hear the voice of God. Jesus brought everyone up close and personal with God. He understood being able to simply call.
Religion keeps us on home phone basis. It is almost like unlisted number basis. It is like only a few really know God’s number. Well Jesus came and gave us all God’s preferred number. Anyone can call at any time. We cannot possible bother God!
As this Psalm indicates, when we call God hears us. He not only hears, but He answers and acts. Our calling honors Him. Our gratitude honors Him. Our familiarity with Him brings Him glory.
You see, He sees things differently that others might! Just as it bothered people when He suggested that He was the son of God, a personal familiarity with God on our part can and will trouble some folks, but that should not cause us to hesitate in any way to give God all the glory that is do Him.
When we are familiar with God we do not relegate our calls to just times of trouble. Remember that even a moment spent with God is a moment well spent. He is our favorite, and we always try to take time for our favorite things.
Making time for and taking time for God honors Him greatly. No doubt, when Jesus would look up and speak to God in midst of the crowd, there were many responses. Remember, Jesus was not affected by the crowds responses; He was focused on God’s response.
I want to be focused on the important things too! I want to always glorify God. Our phones these days keep track of our favorite numbers. If you call someone enough they show up on the list. I want His number at the top. In fact, I would like to pocket dial Him often. I want God to know how welcome He is to call me as well. I want the Holy Spirit to call me when I trouble Him by my words or actions. I want to quickly turn and honor God. All He wants is a call. Glory to God!
