We are all waiting for something. Does how we wait matter? We know from scripture that those who wait on the Lord receive strength. However, the truth is that sometimes we can grow weary in the waiting. We know better. Right? We surely can trust the Lord, but what is taking so long?

Ok, so are we going to trust our doubts and fears and impatience, or are we going to trust the Lord? Are we going to trust what He says? Are we going to trust His character, or learn the flaws in ours?

Hey, we are all flawed at times. However, we are all being perfected. Just as surely as Jesus was raised from the dead, He will complete what He has started, and we can stand on His promises. Again, we are reminded to fight that good fight of faith.

I had an early reminder this week of the wonderful opportunities that come along daily. Of course, when we hear the opportunity word we have different responses. We receive phone calls, emails, and texts that declare great opportunities to buy, sell, get rich, and well you name it, we have opportunities. In truth, we can develop certain attitudes toward such things that can protect or cost us. But that is subject for another time.

The opportunities I am talking about here are the opportunities that grow us up in Jesus. First and foremost, rejoice in the Lord. We can always rejoice in the Lord. ALWAYS! God is always good! So, what great opportunities did I get a refresher Course in?

Keep my mouth shut! It may not be easy at times, but it is beneficial. Take a moment. Consider what you want to say. Think about what you could say. It may be that nothing is the best thing. Say something good! Even if it is random. There is something good. God is good!

Then James reminded me to be quick to listen. Be slow to anger and slow to speak! Now I know these things, but I also know I don’t always do these things. It takes practice. We need to be intentional in our efforts to follow the transformation that the Lord has in mind.

Then today Isaiah speaks of doing something new. God has already begun. Are you feeling like you are in the wilderness? God has been working on it already. Rejoice, knowing that He has a nice path for you. Put on a garment of praise for that spirit of heaviness. Lift up your voice to God and praise Him!

In 2 Kings 20, we see Hezekiah sick and ready to die. God says so. But then Hezekiah prays and God gives him 15 years. He must wait for three whole days, and He wants God to prove that He is really going to do it! And God turns back time for him! That is certainly not patiently waiting. How do we wait? Are we rejoicing and steadfast? Do God’s promises have any effect at all?
