HOW BIG IS YOUR JESUS

For everything comes from him and exist by his power and is intended for his glory. (Romans 11:36)

Much of our walk with God boils down to the question of how big our Jesus is. He is the same yesterday today and forever. So the Jesus of the Bible is the Jesus that is ours in all of His glory. However, we decide how big He is in our lives. We need to understand that we can limit His ability to work in our lives.
I recently listened to a devotion concerning God’s plan for our lives. I must be honest and say that I have seldom been caught up on wondering what He has planned for my life. I am not trying to sound holy here, but I have always preferred His presence over what He has planned. I figure that if I have His presence I will be in His plan.
Having said that, I am really thinking about how big my Jesus is. I have no doubt that I limit Him more often than I really care to know. The nice thing about Him posing such a question is that I can get to work on taking off the limits.
Some of the considerations are simple. Is Jesus bigger than the present fear? If something is causing us fear we can put it in the proper perspective with that simple question. The same is true of our present sickness, need, decision, confusion, and etc. Is Jesus bigger?
In theory, we know that Jesus is greater than anything. He is able to do more than we can hope or imagine. But will He do it for me? This is the lie that the devil uses frequently and we agree with him far too easily. This is such a simple thing, yet it creates such a huge fight in our faith. All it takes is a little time to put it in the proper perspective and we can go with the fact that nothing is too difficult for God. And yes He will do it for me!
You know, even when we do not see God doing anything we can know that He doing something. Even when the earth was without form and void, the Spirit was moving and preparing things for the Lord to speak into existence. We can be sure that He is always preparing things and we can take comfort in that.
It has come to my attention that I have been guilty of limiting Jesus with my prayers. The less I say the more room I give Jesus to play. The more I say, the more I shrink the playing field. I really do not want to do that. It is possible to be so specific in what we want and how we want it that we remove avenues for God to work. This is not to say that we cannot be specific in our prayers, we just should be aware that our preference may be different that God’s priority.
This may be just for me, but if you can use it; it is yours. The main consideration is how big is your Jesus?
