HOW SHE PRAISED GOD
Then He touched her, and instantly she could stand straight. How she praised God! (Luke 13:13)
A lot goes on as we go down the road of life. Today is the day we call Palm Sunday as we celebrate Jesus, riding into town on a colt of a donkey as the people waved palm branches and celebrated the entrance of the King of Kings into the city.
The people were thinking one thing, while Jesus knew the truth, because He is the truth. They did not know the way He would answer their prayers even though He told them frequently that He was The Way. He was giving His life, so they could have life in Him, because He is The Life.
This week my heart jumped a bit as I read about the woman who had been bent over for 18 years and when Jesus touched her, bang, she could stand straight and oh, how she praised the Lord. Her palms went up as she praised the Lord. She rejoiced in amazement. It made me think of the command to bless the Lord at all times. And today as I thought of Palm Sunday, I thought of palms raised in thanks to God.
The time to praise the Lord everywhere is here. The time for miracles started with Jesus and has never stopped. The greatest miracle of all is a soul saved. A person turning to God is really far more wonderful than we can truly imagine. I have no proof, but I would like to think that the woman who was healed refused to join the crucify Him chants.
I would also like to think I would never deny Jesus, but I have no doubt that my thoughts and actions may certainly fail to prove that. Still, I love to praise the Lord! I often pray that God would just take control so I can’t mess up, but He prefers that I choose the life that is always right there for me. The peace and love and joy of the Lord is continuously brought before us by Holy Spirit. He is saying this is yours. Choose it. You can do it. Yes, we can. Unlike the things we may misplace and search and search for, these things are there on the table the Lord has prepared for us.
We all have things we need that only the Lord can provide. What if we combined the things we know He can do, with the reaction we think we would have if He did them and just acted like they were done? In other words, we took a page out of the bent over woman’s book and just praised the Lord before we saw any evidence. You see, the truth is in the promise!
When the woman at the well went running back to town with the news about Jesus, the people who would normally pay no attention to anything she said, came streaming out to see Him. They were looking for Him more than they realized. We are all looking for Him! More than we realize!
Lift up your palms and praise the Lord like you would if you got the perfect gift from Him. Lift them up and call out His name. Do these things even if you never have before; even if it is the way you do things. If you think that might look foolish, it is not God giving you that thought. Just go ahead and wave those palms, and realize a miracle is taking place!
