HOW YOU ARE
The commandments of the Lord are right, bringing joy to the heart. (Psalm 19:8a)
A new thing: God brought this thought to my heart. In Isaiah 43:19, God says, “I am about to do something new. 2 Corinthians 5:17 reminds us that in Christ we are new people and the old life has gone. In Revelation 21:5 we hear the one sitting on the throne say, “look, I am making everything new!
We often ask, “How are you?” And we often do not even hear the response! Sometimes I focus on hearing what people say when I ask. Notice, I did say that I always pay attention. It occurs to me that God always pays attention. He has a response for us that tells us how we are.
You are blessed. Psalm 19 says that you are revived and you are wise. You have continuous access to the joy of the Lord. You have great insight for living this life and forever!
I realize that we don’t always feel like all of this is true, but we need to keep in mind how we really are. If we keep that in mind, then we have good news for others about how they are or how they can be.
We do not need to join in with the chatter of the world about how bad or crazy or scary the world is; we have something better to consider. Unfortunately, we are all guilty of forgetting how we really are.
That is probably why we are encouraged to speak to ourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs. When we worship, we should listen to what we are singing and saying. When we sing that God never stops working, we are reminded that He is working every promise for our good.
Take a moment and think about the truth that is in your heart and mind. Speak it to yourself and speak it to others. People need to hear how they are or what is available to them. Every word of God is true for everyone who chooses to receive it.
Let God arise and His enemies be scattered. What a simple yet wonderful word that is. Call upon the Lord while he is near. Ask God to arise and chase off the enemy. Then let Him do it! Yes, let Him do what He does so well. For your part smile and wave as the enemy is chased over the cliff. Shake the dust off your hands and feet and rejoice because you know that God is faithful.
It is amazing how easily we can forget that God is faithful. We might agree that we know that God is faithful, but there is always a but. Years ago, a man by the name of Peter Lord spoke, saying, “Get off your buts! He may have written a book about it!
It is important that we know how we are in truth and adjust our course when we are wobbling. Your truth can set people free. God is truth.
