I GET IT NOW MOMENTS

But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel. (Acts 2:16 NKJ)

Don’t you just love it when the light comes on? You know those times when it all comes together. It is like when a child takes their first steps on their own; or when the bicycle rolls without the training wheels. There are many learning moments in our lives, but the greatest ones are when the light shines brightly from the Word of God.

I had one of those moments recently as I prayed for my son who is in ranger training. I had just begun when I asked the Lord what I could say that He had not already thought of. With that I began to thank Him for His good plans. Now I am not trying to tell anyone that this is a new way that everyone needs to pray, but when I said that, it was as if the Lord said, “Now you get it!” He then reminded me that recently I had just mentioned a need to a friend and the next thing I knew, that friend had arranged something that was very out of the ordinary. It was a great blessing. Of course I believe God was involved in that as well, but God pointed out that He was even more capable and willing to help than my friend.

Wow! Was that a, “Now I get it” moment or what! Face it, there are things we get and things we don’t get, and not everyone always gets it the way we get it. You may have a light come on and excitedly tell someone about it and they look at you like there are no lights on. That is ok just keep walking in the Light. The thing is, if you don’t get something, go after it and don’t quit till you do get it. Don’t just let truth drift away. And don’t just pretend you get it if you don’t get it. God commands us to get understanding.

Just because we don’t get something, does not mean that it is no good. There are a lot of things about computers that I don’t get, but I know it is beneficial to learn. It is far more important to understand the benefits of God’s Word. The really great thing is that once you get understanding, it leads to more and more.

Peter had an, “I get it now,” moment at Pentecost. He realized that what was going on was what Joel had prophesied. This opened the door for the Holy Spirit to move powerfully in the lives of those with understanding. Peter had a lot of moments in His life when he did not get it, but then he got it. Like, he did not get it when Jesus told him he would need to recover, but once the rooster crowed; he got it.

Paul did not get it until the light came on as he was going to persecute Christians. He then got a serious download of information. We have the promise of Jesus that the Holy Spirit will reveal all truth to us, so we can get it if we want it.

It is well worth the effort for us to knock, seek, and ask and then enjoy those, “I get it now” moments!
