I LOVE YOU BECAUSE

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us... (Eph. 2:4)

This is bigger than us. When we gather to fellowship it is bigger than getting together for ourselves. We get together for the sake of this whole world that God so loves. God’s love is so great we will not totally understand it until we are next to Him in heaven. Still, we have it and we must do something with it. Knowing God is such a privilege and it is not just about us. His purpose in loving us is bigger than us being loved and yet it is all about us being loved. It is about us growing in that love and spreading it. It is impossible for us to love God’s way without knowing His love. Natural love is always based on a reason to love, but God’s love is unreasonable. His love loves when there is no reason to love. When we love the way He loves we reveal the greatness of God.

This understanding is growing in my heart as a result of God speaking to me about developing such a confidence in His love that it would lead to a total dependency and trust in the love of God that is beyond the natural minds ability to comprehend. The idea is to develop that love into a knowing that cannot be explained but is more real than a reflection in the mirror.

Since God gave me a dream about being in a place that I could not really understand at first and then spoke to me about a dependency upon His love, He has continued to reveal more understanding as to how His love works in every place. In fact His love turns every place into a place where we can anticipate the love and perfection of God to be revealed.

Paul stressed the importance of understanding this great love of God, but I think we often have a tendency to give casual attention to what it really involves. In fact, I believe that we can often come up with more reasons why God could not or should not love us or someone else than we can imagine why He did or does or would love us or them. This kind of thinking can and will be erased by an understanding of His love.

God loves the way He loves because He is love. This same love that He loves with has been placed in our hearts by the Holy Spirit. It is up to us to water it and give it the opportunity to sprout and grow until it takes over our lives. Christ in us; that is our hope of glory.

Our understanding and acceptance of this love and the anticipation of its manifestation is for a purpose grander that we can truly understand. However, when we do come to understand that it is bigger, we come to the place where we can be of greater use in the advancement of the Kingdom of God. It is all for us, but it is not all about us. No matter how many gather together, if we understand that we are gathering for the glory of God and that huge things can and will be accomplished by our love and our faith in His ability and love, it changes our whole understanding of the importance of time together with God.

Friends; God loves us because He is love. Why do we love Him? Do we trust His love? Do we depend on His love? Do we expect His love to accomplish what He promises? There is no place that is a mystery to God or beyond the reach of His love.
