I TELL YOU THE TRUTH
At that time you won't need to ask me for anything. I tell you the truth, you will ask the Father directly, and he will grant your request because you use my name. (John 16:23 NLT)
Jesus tells the truth. He tells nothing but the truth. He told the disciples and He tells us the same thing when He tells them. We can fall into a trap if we try to apply certain truth to today and other truth to another time or we pick a day that the truth stops being the truth.
Jesus made it clear that we need God the Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth. Simply put, Jesus tells the truth and we should believe everything that He said and is saying. Holy Spirit will convince us of this when we are willing to hear what He says.
For instance, He points out sin. He also points out the righteous of God that is offered to us. He also makes it clear that there is a judgment coming that can only be avoided through Jesus.
Jesus said these things. Jesus said these things. Jesus said these things. I have said before that I really never doubted that God and Jesus were real; I just never paid much attention to what they said or more importantly to the truth of what they said. They were just words.
This is why Jesus was adamant about receiving the Holy Spirit and what He said. We come to God when we recognize the drawing power of the Holy Spirit. He is always drawing us; we are just not always paying attention.
We really do not know Jesus without the Holy Spirit. Since Holy Spirit leads us into all truth and Jesus is the truth, we can only know in part without His guidance. Remember, Jesus said these things.
It stands to reason then, that the devil spends a great deal of time and effort in an attempt to dilute the truth of what we gain with the indwelling Holy Spirit. This is all for the purpose of removing the power of God from our walk with God. We need the power and the power is in Holy Spirit. This was God’s plan not the plan of any man!
If we want to get past doubting, blaming, and failing to receive from God, then we need to know the truth of what Jesus said and is saying. Make a decision to always believe the truth no matter what your circumstances or your feelings or anything else are saying. Go to the truth. Meditate on the truth. Receive the truth. Speak the truth. Love the truth. Reject anything that is not the truth. Jesus is truth. Holy Spirit reveals truth. God rewards truth. The truth makes us free.
Oh, and remember, Jesus said these things.
