I WISH YOU LIFE

For my eyes have seen Your salvation which You have prepared before the face of all peoples, a light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of Your people Israel. (Luke 2:30-32 NKJ)

As we approach the beginning of a new year, it would benefit us greatly to remember that God whishes us life! Jesus is living proof of just how much God has always wished us life. Darkness has never liked the life that God sent, but darkness cannot stand against His light!

Darkness can always recognize light, but for some reason light often lets darkness sneak up on it. I speak now of how darkness is always trying to destroy the light and often times those who are walking in light fail to stay alert and we allow the darkness to fool us.

From the day that man was created, God wished man life and fellowship with Himself. Darkness snuck in and man was deceived but that did not change God’s desire for man to have life. Jesus was born and darkness tried to kill the Light, but God protected the life. Jesus grew to be a man and revealed the kind of life God wished for us and promised that we could have eternal life through Him. The darkness tried to defeat Him and it even looked like it had, but God revealed His resurrecting power and even greater life was manifested.

So now whether we believe it or not, God wishes us life! Trials may surround us and the darkness may scream at us, but God wishes us life. The doctor may declare that you are sick and will stay sick, but God wishes you life. His words are health to all flesh and life to them that find it!

Just take all the things that come against you screaming that you are going down and stand them beside God’s promise of life! You may be having financial struggles and it seems as though you are going to be swallowed by them, but God says, “I wish you life.” How can the Life that is in Christ possibly be stopped by the lies of darkness? They cannot, if we will only believe what God has promised. We are the ones who decide whether to believe the lie or the truth.

From the smallest of problems to the greatest trials, God has one wish for us, and that is life. There was nothing that Jesus could not overcome. He was well aware of what was coming at Him, but He always confronted it with the life that God promised.

If someone came and told him their child was dead, He told them not to fear. If someone said there was not enough food, He told them to sit down and eat. If someone told him they needed tax money, He told them to go fishing! The only thing that really bothered Jesus was unbelief.

Wouldn’t it be great if the only thing that bothered us was our own unbelief? If it bothered us enough, we would probably get rid of it. If we would get rid of it, then we could walk in the truth of God’s promise of life. It is my desire and prayer for us all that we would always be aware of God’s wish for life and that we would not allow the darkness to sneak up on us and rob us of this light. God has set a choice before us. Choose life!
