IF WE COULD SEE

It is good to wait quietly for the Lord to save them. (Lamentations 3:26 ERV)

And so, we begin and New Year with new life spread before us each day. Last year is gone. The successes and the failures are behind us. No matter how good or bad it was, God has given us a fresh start. Actually, every day is a fresh start.

A few things that the Lord has placed on my heart have given me more than enough to contemplate for the whole year, but I don’t believe He wants me to take the whole year to put them into play; in fact I am sure that when He puts things in our hearts it means we can and should load them in the play book the same day.

I awoke from a dream in which I was busy trying to fix something. I do not really remember what it was, I only remember that the anxiety level was too high and I had not yet managed to change anything. I had this impression from God to simply fix what needs fixing and trust Him to guide me.

We often spend a lot of time looking for things to fix in ourselves and in others. More often than not we are less than satisfied with ourselves or with others when we are busy trying to fix things. So I am thinking that unless God points it out; it is not my business. Just think how much more time we would have to just love God and enjoy life if we were not looking for what is wrong!

Then in prayer, I experienced a sense of seeing and knowing as God does. I did not see anything, or know anything specific but the awareness was overwhelming. The amount of compassion and helplessness I felt as this sat on me was more than I could bear. When it was gone, I realized why we only know in part. I also understood why we are commanded to love and not fix.

Jesus knows all things. He sees our failures and successes. He also knows our potential. He could fix everything any time He chooses, and yet He does not. He just keeps loving us. He just keeps offering us new opportunities and opening new doors that lead to where he wants us to be so we can have what He wants us to have.

Since we really do not know everything about everything nor what is best for everyone and every situation, what if we just did what Jesus did. What if we were simply free to love and display His confidence and hope for others and for the world for that matter? Oh wait! We are free to do that! If there is something that God wants us to take care of, then we will be able to do that. Until then, we can leave it to God and continue to do what He has called us to do. We can love God and we can love others.

Truly, we have all done our share of wandering. If we will spend more time focusing on the wonders of God we will not be so quick to think we have the answers for those who wander aimlessly without Him. Open the eyes of our hearts Lord!
