Our town is still cleaning and building. An amazing effort has accomplished a great deal so far. There is still much to do. Everyone wants done, what they need done. I hear that some people are getting impatient and discouraged and that is understandable. Personally, I am praying that my garage gets put back together before a big wind comes and takes it out of fixable! Still, I can say it is well with my soul.

So, when the repairs begin, how much do I want done? I want it completed. I don’t want the contractor to come and say it will have to be good enough, because he has others waiting and that he hopes I will understand. I also want the insurance company to do what they told me I would do when I started paying my premiums.

So is it unreasonable to say that Jesus wants us to obey Him. His commands are not unreasonable!  This week I heard or read something that I thought was perfect. It said, “God’s word is not something to adjust, it is something to be followed.

God wants us to adjust our lives to His plan, adjust His words to our plans! Don’t get in the trap of, “Oh well, no one is perfect.” When I was growing up, my folks expected the garbage to get all the way to the trash can, not just as far as the bushes or worse yet not even out the door. If my dad said the yard had to be mowed before I could go swimming, guess what, it had better be done.

Did I always complete every task perfectly? Perhaps not, but it was me that adjusted, not my parents.

Holy Spirit produces what God wants in our lives if we present ourselves to Him and open the door to His plans. Jesus stands at the door. Open the door. Don’t make plans according to what you think God should understand, or how He should be willing to adjust. How much of His blessing to you want Him to provide for your life. I want the whole thing.

How important is God to us? Psalm 43:2 declares, “You God are my only safe haven!”43:4 God, the source of all my joy.”

We need to daily hit the refresh button on our lives in Christ. This week, my challenge has been to search for peace and work to maintain it! There is a fight the good fight challenge. Know that God is God! Do you know that God is God? Will we allow God to be God?

Will we adjust to the will and way of God? Honestly, our walk with God is like cleaning up after a storm. We must keep at it. No one else can do it for us. Yield to His leading.
