IMPORTANT
This is how God showed His love for us: He sent His only Son into the world to give us life through Him...True love is God's love for us, not our love for God. (1 John 4:9-10a ERV)
We have been speaking of things that tend to prevent us from experiencing all the plans that God has for us. These are simple truths from God’s word that often cause us to back up, stop, doubt, or just idle along pretending but not believing. We have been calling them lids. Lids prevent us from receiving and also keep us from pouring out.
So, I am driving down the road and praying; speaking to God about different things and as I do, I mention that I know there are probably more important things and needs in the world but…it was at this point that God interrupted me from the inside and spoke to me pointing out just how important every believer is to Him.
He explained that our inability to comprehend our importance to God limits our faith to pray and see results. If we see ourselves as insignificant then we see no benefit in praying because we really expect no results.
God wants us to understand that each and every person is important to Him and that our prayers are heard and answered. When we have a sense of our importance to God, it builds our confidence to pray and keep praying, not only for ourselves but for others as well. When we pray with confidence and assurance, the results shine brightly for others to see and be encouraged. This brings glory to God. If we do not feel like God thinks we are important, how will we encourage others to trust God?
When I was praying, I was not saying that what I was praying was not important, just that I figured there were other things more pressing. What God used that moment to clarify was that there is nothing more important to Him that what I was praying. The same goes for you and for everyone who will call out to God. You are important! That is all there is to it.
Well that gave me plenty to contemplate and later as I prayed I came to a simple truth that Jesus pointed out, only I saw it so clearly this time. I was praying about all the messes around the world realizing that I had no idea how to clean them up and that any suggestion I might have could simply make a bigger mess. I could however simply recognize them, show that I care about them, trust that He knows how to fix all things, and ask Him to help. Your kingdom come, Lord, Your will be done. How simple is that?
We do not have to figure out everything, we simply need to trust the one who already has it figured out. When it comes to the things we need, we simply need to believe that we are important to Him and ask. He not only can fix, He can supply. Our prayers and our trust are of great importance to God. Throw away any lid that argues against that truth!
